The 2024 Gotham Awards are being presented at a star-studded ceremony at New York’s Cipriani Wall Street on Monday night.
Going into the ceremony, Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or-winning Anora leads with four nominations, including for best feature.
In best feature, Anora faces off against Babygirl, Challengers, A Different Man and Nickel Boys. Nickel Boys is up for three awards in total, with the additional nominations coming in the categories of best director (RaMell Ross) and breakthrough performer (Brandon Wilson). Babygirl and Different Man are up for two awards in total each, with the former also nominated in the best lead performance category for star Nicole Kidman and A Different Man in the supporting performance category for Adam Pearson.
Other films nominated for multiple awards include three-time nominee I Saw the TV Glow and double nominees All We Imagine as Light, Hard Truths and The Fire Inside.
Since 2021, the Gotham Awards has recognized performers in gender-neutral categories.
This year, though, marks the first time in several years in which TV categories won’t be presented during the fall awards show, as The Gotham recently broke those out into a separate TV awards ceremony which takes place in June.
In addition to the competitive awards, the Gothams will also honor the following people and films with tributes: The Piano Lesson will receive the Ensemble Tribute; Denis Villeneuve will receive the Director Tribute for Dune: Part Two; Franklin Leonard and the Black List will receive the Anniversary Tribute; Angelina Jolie will receive the Performer Tribute for Maria; Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold will receive the Visionary Tribute for A Complete Unknown; Zendaya will receive the Spotlight Tribute for Challengers; and Sing Sing will receive the Social Justice Tribute.
Maria director Pablo Larraín was on hand to present Jolie with her award, as the star noted that the day would have been Maria Callas’s 101st birthday.
The Gotham Awards nominees were selected by committees of critics, journalists, festival programmers and film curators.
Separate juries of writers, directors, actors, producers, editors and others directly involved in making films determined the final award recipients.
Recent Gotham Awards winners have included Oscar winners Everything Everywhere All at Once, CODA, Nomadland, Marriage Story, American Factory, Moonlight, Spotlight and Birdman.
A complete list of this year’s Gotham nominees follows. Winners will be noted as they’re announced live. Refresh for the latest.
