Lili Reinhart isn't the first celebrity to launch a skin-care brand. In fact, there's a long list of celebrities that come before her. However, if you're at all familiar with the "Riverdale" actor, you know that she's not just slapping her name on some products and calling it a day. Her new brand, Personal Day, aims to bring more awareness to acne and how it intersects with mental health.
Reinhart has extensively documented her journey with acne on her social media accounts, and she's opened up about her skin in numerous interviews. "I've struggled with my skin ever since I was 13 and I had my first big breakout on my forehead," Reinhart previously told PS. "I still have cystic acne, so I know there will be times where I break out before a big event. I want to show my fans, and also myself, that's OK. To hide that would feel very inauthentic."
The brand, which is centered around nurturing acne-prone skin, officially launched on Oct. 28 with five products. There's the Full Clarity Cleansing Powder ($24), the Doing the Work Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment ($36), the Deep Dive Mevalonic Moisturizer ($38), as well as the Even Keel Resurfacing Peel ($34) and the Everybody Stay Calm Recovery Mask ($32). All of the products are vegan, cruelty-free, and noncomedogenic.
Three PS editors with different skin types opted to test out the Recovery Mask, which promises to soothe irritated skin, calm inflammation, and reduce redness, as well as dryness. The key ingredients include zinc hyaluronate, azelaic acid, chlorophyll, and mevalonic acid, which is an ingredient exclusive to Personal Day. Keep scrolling to learn how it worked for each of them.
Skin Type: Dry
"As someone who is currently on a retinoid, this recovery mask has been a lifesaver for my skin's barrier. My skin has become a lot more reactive due to the potent nature of the prescription, and although it's tremendously helping with my acne and breakouts, it's also making my skin sensitive. This recovery mask gives my skin the hydration it needs to calm residual inflammation or irritations while adding much-needed hydration back into my skin. I also noticed it really helps reduce redness, minimizes the peeling and flakiness from the retinoid, and helps with dullness. As you can see, I pretty much put it all over my skin and it's gentle enough to get close to your undereye area." — Anvita Reddy, assistant shopping editor

Skin Type: Reactive/Acneic
"When it comes to skin struggles, I've got a few. I have dry skin that's also acne-prone, and it's reactive. Meaning, if it doesn't like a product I'm putting on it, it'll let me know — immediately. Usually, in the form of an angry red rash, followed up by a severe breakout. I was excited to test this brand because it's made specifically for skin like mine, and I was curious to see how it would live up to the hype. Plus, it couldn't come at a better time — my skin has been feeling the heat after an extremely stressful election this past week.
The brand recommends using this mask one to two times a week directly onto cleansed skin. It says you can leave it on for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. I like using it in the morning after splashing my face with water and patting it dry. I noticed that it makes my skin less red, and it feels a lot smoother and more hydrated. However, one thing I don't love about the mask is that it is a bit difficult to wash off, so I typically like to do it when I'm in the shower so I can get my face directly under the spray of water.
Overall, I'm planning on working this mask into my weekly routine, especially now that things just got a lot more stressful." — Renee Rodriguez, staff writer and social producer

Skin Type: Normal to Dry
"The Everybody Stay Calm Recovery Mask came into my hands just in the nick of time. This has undoubtedly been a stressful week (to put things very lightly), and my skin, which is usually pretty clear, is showing it. On Tuesday, I woke up with two breakouts on either cheek, awkwardly placed directly above my dimples. After treating them with an acne-fighting serum, I used the mask for 10 minutes after my shower to reset and help reduce the redness in my breakouts. The thin, wasabi-green formula spread across my skin with ease, leaving me looking like the newest cast member of the upcoming 'Wicked' movie. Unlike some mask treatments, it didn't leave my skin feeling dry, tight, or tingly, which I liked. After rinsing it off, my skin looked glowy and felt hydrated. I'll definitely be keeping this one on hand to use regularly." — Jessica Harrington, senior beauty editor
