This week, we finally got a massive batch of new games added to the PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra game catalogs. It’s a fantastic bunch of titles, thanks to the inclusion of some AAA heavy hitters like Grand Theft Auto V, as well as great retro classics, and even some standout indies. As there’s a wealth of games to choose from, you might be having some trouble deciding which ones to check out first. I’d start with any of these three titles, which are all among the best games on PS Plus.

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V needs little introduction, as it’s one of the most iconic and bestselling video games ever. If you haven’t played it before, know that this is one of the most entertaining open-world games ever made, with a strong main story about three men drawn back into a life of crime. On top of that, there’s its nearly infinite online mode. Whether you’re concerned with actually completing missions or just want to drive around and mess with the citizens of Los Santos, GTA V offers some of the most fun sandbox gaming available. Grand Theft Auto VI is poised to release sometime in 2025, so now is the perfect time to revisit the last GTA title to better understand the high bar GTA 6 and every other future release from Rockstar Games will need to live up to.

The PS4 and PS5 versions of Grand Theft Auto V are available to PS Plus Extra subscribers. The game is also available on PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Resistance: Fall of Man

 Fall of Man.Sony Interactive Entertainment

While Insomniac Games is best known for its Sypro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and Marvel’s Spider-Man franchises, Resistance is the franchise that defined the studio during the PlayStation 3 era. These games were alternate-history first-person shooters where players fought off invading aliens in the 1950s with weird sci-fi weaponry. It all started with Resistance: Fall of Man, a PS3 launch title. While Resistance never managed to escape the PS3 generation, this series is still worth checking out for fans of first-person shooters. As such, I recommend playing Resistance: Fall of Man now that it’s possible to try it out via cloud gaming, like other PS3 titles.

The PS3 version of Resistance: Fall of Man is now available for PS Plus Premium subscribers to stream on PS4 or PS5.

Overcooked! All You Can Eat

The Overcooked games are some of the best co-op video games ever made. The goal is simple: work together to cook meals with up to three pals. Completing each necessary task to make a meal quickly gets chaotic, though, and you’ll quickly find yourself shouting at friends to make sure that you don’t waste time or mess up a dish. Overcooked! All You Can Eat combines both games in the series and their DLC into one package. That’s the version of Overcooked that’s now on PS Plus, and it’s worthy of a download for anyone who enjoys playing co-op games with their friends.

Overcooked! All You Can Eat is now part of the PS Plus Extra game catalog on PS4 and PS5. It’s also available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

3 new PS Plus games you should play this weekend (October 18-20)

A zombie crawls toward a player on a boardwalk in Dead Island 2.

It's the middle of the month, so another batch of games just came to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalog. There's a solid mix of scary games here just in time for Halloween and hidden gems in the PS4, PS5, and PSVR2's libraries that are well worth your time. If you're wondering what you should play this weekend, I can safely say that you'll have a good time with any of these three games.
Dead Island 2
Dead Island 2 - Extended Gameplay Reveal [4K Official]

It can be hard for zombie games to stand out because so many exist. Dead Island 2 had the benefit of being infamous because it was constantly delayed and shifting developers during development. It finally launched almost seven years after its initial announcement. Despite those development woes, Dambuster Studios and Deep Silver's Dead Island 2 is a surprisingly solid action game. It stands out because of its particularly satisfying melee combat and extraordinarily detailed dismemberment system. Dead Island 2 is a fitting game to play ahead of Halloween and definitely the headliner for October's batch of PS Plus additions.

3 new PS Plus games you need to play this weekend (October 11-13)

Issac Clarke exploring ruins in Dead Space Remake.

As we enter the middle of October, Halloween celebrations will only continue to ramp up. That makes this a perfect time to play horror games or games that elicit an eerie, autumn-like vibe despite all of the new releases like Metaphor: ReFantazio and Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. Thankfully, several new additions to Sony's subscription service, from PlayStation Plus Essential to Extra, fit that bill. Those are the games I'm drawing from as I recommend three more PS Plus titles for you to check out this weekend.
Dead Space
10 Minutes of Dead Space Remake Gameplay

One of October's PS Plus Essential monthly games is EA Motive's excellent Dead Space remake. It's an utterly gorgeous, faithful recreation of Visceral Games' iconic 2008 sci-fi horror game that's still one of the best-looking games on PlayStation 5. It's a must-play during this spooky season, even if one of the most frightening things about doing so is realizing EA doesn't plan to follow excellent remake up anytime soon. The PS5 version of Dead Space is available to all PS Plus subscribers until November 5. It's also on PC and Xbox Series X/S through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

3 new PS Plus games you should play this weekend (October 4-6)

Ellie and Riley look at each other in The Last of Us Part 1's version of Left Behind.

It's October, so it's finally time to start watching more horror movies and playing more horror video games to get in a spooky mood. Thankfully, recent additions to PS Plus are making it very easy to settle into that vibe. On top of that, a wrestling video game has just hit PlayStation Plus Essential ahead of the last big WWE events of the year. All of that has informed my picks for the three games PS Plus subscribers should check out this weekend.
The Last of Us Part I
The Last of Us Part I - Announce Trailer | PS5 Games

At this point, The Last of Us is so iconic that it needs little introduction. It was a landmark horror video game that set new standards for video game narrative with its tale about Joel and Ellie. It was originally released for PS3 in 2013 and remastered for PS4 in 2014. The Last of Us Part I is a remake built for PS5. It gives the entire game a visual overhaul and adds accessibility features and an overall game feel to bring the adventure more in line with its 2020 sequel. If you haven’t played The Last of Us yet, you need to try it out now that the definitive version of it is on PS Plus.
