Michael Rainey Jr. achieved a significant milestone on Saturday night (Feb. 22) at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, and 50 Cent didn’t hesitate to share how proud he was of the Power star.
Rainey Jr. took home the trophy for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his compelling performance in Power Book II: Ghost.
“I’m so happy for him, the NAACP is really all we got,” 50 wrote on Instagram. “We do bigger numbers than a lot of shows but we don’t get nominated because of diversity.” In another post showing the 24-year-old’s moment, the Hip-Hop icon and TV mogul wrote, “[applause emojis] @michaelraineyjr won NAACP outstanding actor in a drama series, he is gonna be better [than] all of us. He’s focused got 2 movies in the can BOOM.”
Rainey Jr., who has played Tariq St. Patrick since the inception of the Power series, took to the stage to give his acceptance speech. “I’m shaking right now, not only because I’m nervous but because it’s mad cold in here,” he began in a true New York fashion. “I just want to thank my mother and my father for bringing me in this world. I’m just blessed and overjoyed and I just appreciate everybody for considering me for this award. Thank you everybody.”
The actor also took to Fif’s comment section to thank him as well. “Wouldn’t be here if you didn’t believe in me 5. Love you for life,” he wrote. In response, 50 reposted the comments and captioned it, “I’m so proud of @michaelraineyjr he was already on point but this is the kind of recognition he needs to take it to the next level.”
He also joked that Rainey Jr. bought him a blue Louis Vuitton jacket and claimed Yayo “never brought [him] nothing.”
50’s admiration for Rainey Jr. is polar opposite to how he’s recently spoke on Lil Meech, the star from his other hit show B.M.F. According to Fif, Meech isn’t focused on his career and only cares about “Chrome Heart jeans and Blowing Money Fast.”
He also hinted that another season of B.M.F. may not be happening.
“I can’t believe this man. U act as if I’m your enemy I’ve only showed u love,” Lil Meech allegedly texted 50 Cent in a since-deleted repost of their text thread. “I’m human I go thru my own sh*t but I never switched up on u.” Meech then went on the pledge his allegiance to the G-Unit boss, by adding, “F**k Rick Ross but he gave my dad some bread so he can afford to pay his bills until our next season starts.”
However, 50 appeared to be dumbfounded about another season of B.M.F., quipping, “What next season little [ninja emoji].”
