90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way‘s Armando Niedermeier-Rubio defended TLC against Statler Riley‘s claims that her “persona” was written by a show writer when she appeared on season 6.
“These are blatant lies for podcast views and a narrative to excuse her behavior,” Armando, 34, wrote about Statler, 33, in an Instagram post after she appeared on the Patreon channel for “The Tell All Podcast” on Tuesday, November 26.
“There are no writers that ‘create’ a story, fictional characters or say the things she said (good guy bad guy). Of course they ask who you are, to get to know you,” he continued about the show’s writers and producers.
“But the stuff she is saying doesn’t happen at all, sorry. She is really doing a disservice to those who support her because anyone who buys into what she is saying is getting lied to and punked,” Armando added.
The fan favorite also shared an Instagram Story reading, “Thank you to the cast members for sticking up for me. The truth will prevail as we continue to tell the truth — not just me but a whole army of reality cast members from multiple shows. They have reasons to be shaking in their boots.”
Statler claimed the real reason she didn’t participate in the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 6 reunion, which aired on November 18, was because she “spoke out against the manipulation tactics and illegal s–t that Sharp Entertainment/90 Day Fiancé does.”
“There has only been one other person who wasn’t invited in the entire history of 90 Day. It’s an honor to be the first to cut my puppet strings and I’ll keep speaking out about it,” she wrote in an Instagram Stories post, which was reshared by fan account 90daythemelanatedway.
Statler added fuel to the fire in a clip shared by “The Tell All Podcast” on Tuesday, November 26. “It became apparent pretty quickly the things they were having me talk about and do, that they were pushing a narrative,” she explained while “How a writer created my reality TV persona” was written across the screen.
“Basically, during the interview process, I’d met with a writer, and she worked on developing my character, and she was very obvious about it,” Statler alleged. “She wanted to know all of the things that happened in my life, and she talked to me like a friend. So, I was telling her everything — stuff I’d done in college, stuff I’d done in middle school.”
“There were certain things she latched on to that I was realizing was being brought up in filming,” the reality star continued.
As an example, Statler revealed the shared with the writer how she was “hypersexual” in her 20s, but was 32 when she was filming 90 Day: TOW, adding now, “I’m kind of just a little bit lazy when it comes to sex.”
“But they were definitely pushing me to be very sexual and always thinking about sex. Which wasn’t me,” Statler alleged.
Statler was absent from the reunion tell-all and her ex, Dempsey Wilkinson, wasn’t there either. Season 6 of the TLC show saw the duo navigating their romance while living in a van together. Statler has since intimated that they broke up prior to the season airing.
Armando and his now-husband, Kenny Niedermeier, were introduced in 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 2. Fans watched their journey from meeting for the first time, through their engagement and marriage over the years.
