90 Day Fiancé‘s David Dangerfield opened up about his heartbreak after learning fiancée Sheila Mangubat‘s visa has been delayed and how they won’t be able to marry by Christmas 2024 as he hoped.

“I was [sad to] find out [our] visa is [delayed] [today] and we are sad. I am sorry for [failing] and [I send] love to my family and friends and Sheila and fans,” David, 42, explains to In Touch after sharing a statement about her status via Instagram. on Wednesday, November 27.

“I can’t believe it, but I will do [it] again [and] apply for visa again and wait for [another] 2 more years. I am [strong] for me and Sheila [and] for [our] long-distance relationship again,” the grocery store worker continues. “Two more years to go.”

Sheila, 33, lives in the Philippines with her teenage son, Jhonreil.

David brought up another 90 Day Fiancé couple who had to wait years to be reunited in the United States after suffering a number of visa setbacks.

“I am so [frustrated to have to] wait for [a] long time but I [will] not [give] up I am so [heartbroken]. And I remember Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi [waited] for 7 years [for their] visa approval. [It looks] like [we will have to] wait [a] long time, to wait more than Angela and Michael! I am sorry for [failing to receive this] visa approval,” he shares.

David tells In Touch that Sheila is willing to wait out the time until they can try again to get her visa approved.

“And I [asked Sheila, do you] want [to] wait again? Sheila [said OK, if you] can wait too. I [said] yes. I [said] one more time and if [it’s] not [approved] we will be over. I will [not lose this] relationship [for] anything!!!!” he declares. “I love Sheila too much. She is [the sweetest lady I’ve met in all my life].”

“I can’t get married [this] year and [I failed] for my Christmas gift [to be our] marriage,” David sadly reveals.

Viewers first met the Nebraska resident on season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days in June 2023. David was the only deaf person in an all-hearing family. After graduating from a deaf school and entering the “real world” at 20, he acknowledged he grew frustrated with “constantly interacting with hearing people,” and that he found it “hard to connect with people.”

David met Sheila on a Facebook group for deaf singles two years before they shot season 6 of ​​90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days.

Before they met in person in her home country, David sent Sheila $3,000, after she lost her job when COVID-19 hit, and her house was destroyed by a fire. Then it was hit again by a typhoon.

David was “overwhelmed” when seeing the conditions of her home and the extreme poverty of her living situation after he traveled to meet Sheila in her hometown of Cebu in the Philippines.

David worked two jobs during their relationship to help support Sheila, as well as traveling abroad to see her. During part two of the season 6 reunion that aired on October 1, 2023, David confessed he worked 85 hours a week between both of his jobs. However, Sheila has since opened her own shop to support herself.

David didn’t reveal why Sheila’s visa was rejected, but in January, he started a GoFundMe page to ask viewers for money to help buy a home for the couple and her son, as he was currently living in a one-bedroom apartment.

“To live in a home with my family is a dream come true, however I’m hesitant because I’m worried my job and current salary will not allow me to afford a home,” David wrote in the description of the fundraiser, shared via Instagram on January 13. “Please help my family so we can be together.”

As of November 29, 2024, the fundraiser had reached $17,713
