90 Day Fiance’s Mahmoud El Sherbiny Has Left the United States and Appears to Be Back in Egypt

Mahmoud El Sherbiny appears to have returned to Egypt after previously moving to the United States for wife Nicole Sherbiny. The 90 Day Fiancé star filmed an Instagram Live on Saturday, November 9, that showed him walking through a market in what looks like his native country.

It’s unclear if Mahmoud, 31, is back in Egypt permanently or if he’s just visiting. On October 10, he posted an Instagram photo taken in Nevada. He previously spent time in Egypt back in April when he celebrated Eid-al-Fitr with his family.

Mahmoud and Nicole, 41, tied the knot in 2019. At first, she relocated to Egypt to be with him, but was unable to adapt to a new life there. In 2023, Mahmoud moved to Los Angeles, which was documented on season 8 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? earlier this year. The series concluded on August 25, but Mahmoud and Nicole’s final episode was in May.

In their final episode, which was filmed shortly after the Egypt native’s move to the U.S., Mahmoud told Nicole that he wanted a divorce. However, on February 1, Mahmoud publicly gushed over his wife in an Instagram post for their wedding anniversary.

“Happy 5th anniversary to the love of my life!” he wrote. “Words can’t express how grateful I am to have you by my side. You bring joy, love, and laughter to my days, and I cherish every moment we spend together. Thank you for being my rock, my confidant, and my best friend. Here’s to many more years of love and happiness together. I love you endlessly, my beautiful wife.”

Less than three weeks later, Mahmoud was arrested for domestic violence on February 20. The reality star was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence after an altercation with Nicole, In Touch confirmed. However, no charges were brought against him. “We rejected/declined to prosecute,” a rep for the L.A. City Attorney said.

The two have not publicly commented on the arrest or current relationship status. Shortly after the incident, Nicole shared a message about Policy Brief 8, a movement that hopes to “end violence against women in Muslim families,” on Instagram.

“Violence against women is a global phenomenon that cuts across all cultures, religions, countries, and contexts,” the post, originally shared by the Musawah Movement, said. “Over one in three women experience physical or sexual violence at some point in their lives. Violence against women stems from patriarchal ideas, power imbalances, and sex and gender discrimination.”

Mahmoud and Nicole both don’t post on social media very often. In September, he shared rare footage of himself in an unidentified location with a voiceover that said, “Allah has a plan for you. You are exactly where he wants you to be. Don’t carry the anxieties for the future because it isn’t a lost power. Trust that Allah’s plan is the best plan. Do your part and leave the rest to Allah. Even when you don’t understand. Just keep trusting him.”

Meanwhile, Nicole’s last post on Instagram was in July when she opened her online clothing boutique, Maude & Aster. “To celebrate, I’m offering a two day grand opening sale where you can get 15% off storewide and a free gift with purchase. Don’t miss out! Link in bio,” she wrote. “Be sure to follow the store page @maudeandaster for updates on new arrivals and exclusive deals. Thank you so much for your support, it means the world to me!”
