90 Day Fiancé star Shekinah Garner opened up about why she looked so swollen during part 1 of the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Tell-All.
The reality star had undergone some cosmetic procedures that left her looking different as she sat on the stage with her costars during the episode, which aired on November 18. Shekinah, 43, discussed what led to the swelling in a recent social media post.
“Ten days before the tell-all I had all of my facial fillers removed by @drmirzafirat and fat transfer to the hollows under my eyes and temples,” the mom of one wrote via Instagram on November 23, alongside a video of herself in the hospital. “It was a risk being that the tell-all was coming up so soon, and my swelling most likely wouldn’t be gone until a full month later. Also with fat transfer doctors have to over-fill because a percentage of the fat doesn’t survive the transfer and ‘dies off’ so they have to consider the end result being less filled than when they are doing the transfer.”
Shekinah continued, “At the tell-all I was still very swollen but I don’t regret doing it when I did. I trust this doctor so much and wanted to have this done before returning to the states (and bringing Sarper back with me this time!) because there was no telling how long it would be before I could return to Turkey.”
The 90 Day star thanked her doctor for his “excellent” care and for “getting [her] in on short notice.” Shekinah also stated her plans for any cosmetic procedures in the future.
“I will not get fillers anywhere but in my lips going forward! And even in my lips I’m still on a break of filler (going on two years now) and while the shape is still great the size has diminished a little (which Sarper is glad about haha),” she concluded.
Fans had previously speculated that Shekinah had potentially undergone some unsuccessful cosmetic work after seeing her in the last few episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 6. The TLC personality revealed what she had done via her Instagram Stories on November 14.
“I had really bad Botox done in Turkey right before filming the last scenes of the season,” Shekinah said. “It froze half of my jaw, making my mouth crooked and chin look huge. I was so upset it ruined my face for these major life moments.”
She also included a slide that showed a close-up angle of herself applying lip gloss to give fans a more accurate view at how the procedure had affected her face.
Shekinah and her fiancé, Sarper Güven, experienced a tense moment during part 1 of the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Tell-All when his ex made an appearance via video call. Both Sarper, 44, and Shekinah looked surprised when his former girlfriend DeeDee popped up.
While Sarper admitted that he did remember DeeDee, Shekinah revealed that she had never heard of the woman. The former male stripper looked extremely uncomfortable for most of the interaction, but DeeDee’s presence was enough to make Shekinah walk off the stage until the video call ended. When she returned, she accused Sarper of having a double standard because he allegedly got jealous about her romances from the past.
Fans will get to see more of Sarper and Shekinah when the part 2 of the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Tell-All airs on Monday, November 25.
