An iconic 90s band has announced their comeback tour 30 years after the release of their hit single, The Riverboat Song.

Ocean Colour Scene, who rose to fame in 1996 thanks to the success of The Riverboat Song, will be heading on an acoustic tour around the country to perform the group's biggest hit. Members Simon Fowler and Oscar Harrison have reunited to perform a 14-date tour, titled Simon and Oscar: The Songs of Ocean Colour Scene.

The band already had a successful year when they embarked on a UK tour in the Spring as well as performing a few festivals in the summer. Their latest tour starts on October 2 in Frome and will end at Bexhill on October 25. London fans will also be able to watch them perform at Islington Assembly Hall on October 19.

Speaking of the tour, Simon, 59, said: "Oscar and I absolutely love playing our acoustic shows, where these fantastic venues help to create an intimacy that’s not dissimilar to an after-hours singalong in a room full of friends. We love having the time and space to chat with everyone, setting the scene before each song. We really can’t wait, and look forward to seeing everyone there."

The duo will be performing hit songs such as Traveller's Tune, The Circle, Hundred Mile High City and The Day We Caught The Rain. The Birmingham band originally consisted of Simon, Oscar, 59, Steve Cradock and Damon Minchella. The band recorded a demo tape that was sent to many industry figures.

After hearing the tape, Noel Gallagher invited them to play with Oasis on their 1995 tour. In late 1995, the band signed with MCA Records. It wasn't long before their song hit the charts. Their second album, Moseley Shoals, was hugely successful, going triple platinum in the UK.

Marchin' Already, which was their follow-up album to Moseley Shoals, went straight to number one in the UK Albums Chart, displacing Oasis' Be Here Now at the top of the charts in 1997. The very next year saw them headline their own arena tour in support of Marchin' Already.

Ocean Colour Scene released multiple albums over the year, but lost and gained members. Simon, Steve and Oscar remained in the band the entire time while Damon Minchella in the early 00s. Replacing him on bass was Dan Sealey for several years before Raymond Meade stepped in. Andy Bennett also joined for a decade on guitar
