Dion then kissed the When We Were Young singer’s hands before they whispered to one another.

The Canadian singer appeared teary as she sat back down in her seat alongside her twin sons Nelson and Eddy, 14.

Returning back to the stage, Adele said to the audience: “Give it up to Ms. Céline Dion,” prompting the All By Myself singer to stand and wave to the crowd.

She said Dion was “one of my favourite people of all time”.

Dion launched her first residency in 2003 at The Colosseum, which played for 717 shows through to December 2007.

The Colosseum was built specifically for Dion’s residency.

She returned to the venue for her second stint in March 2011 and played 424 shows before wrapping it up in June 2019.

In another moment, Adele revealed to the crowd she was battling a painful ear inflection that had left her temporarily deaf in one ear.

She said the rare water bacteria was the most painful thing she had experienced.

“I have an ear infection, which is pretty grim. I’ve never had one before. It’s the most painful thing that’s ever, ever happened to me,” she said.

“It was worse than childbirth. It’s a rare water bacteria. It’s very hard to treat.”

Explaining that she was now on antibiotics to treat the condition, she added: “I wanted to chop my ear off a few times.”

“I’m no longer in pain, which is great but I’m a bit deaf in my left ear.”
