An AI image of David Tennant has left fans horrified after it became the top picture when you search for the Rivals actor on Google.
For the past few days if you’ve looked up David, 53, on the search engine you will have been greeted by a ‘yassified’ version created with artificial intelligence.
AI is becoming more prevalent around the world, with rising concern around altered images which have been cropping up across social media.
David’s AI alter-ego has caused even more upset as it has unexpectedly become the first picture on his Google page, casting doubt on the search engine’s ability to filter out false information.
The image shows a brunette man, clearly based on the Doctor Who legend, wearing a grey jumper in a non-descript grey space.
Fans quickly dubbed this altered image ‘David Landlord’ as they discussed how uncomfortable the picture made them feel.
‘Fix this ai s**t please what is this? who is that?’ wrote Raph on X, posting a screenshot of the Google page.
‘I absolutely hate it here. Look how the butchered my David Tennant 😭’ replied Ella as Cassidy added: ‘David WHAT?’
James Aaron Thomas said: ‘I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again… Google has been useless for decades and now it’s getting even worse.’
AI David was compared to the likes of director Zach Snyder as well as the older Peter Paker from the Spiderverse films.
‘That’s David Landlord, clearly,’ joked Dave as Pat said: ‘AI created David Landlord, we have to ban it immediately.’
Sridhar Ramesh said: ‘What has me confused is, why is this the top result? What changed in the algorithm design to cause some random pic from some random website to be ranked #1, over the many photos surely repeatedly labelled “David Tennant” across high credibility sites? It used to work well.’
The image comes from a random Wikipedia-style website which has David’s biography and career listed, using a different AI image of him at the top of the page.
Bizarrely, the ‘David Landlord’ picture is not visible on the source page, despite being so prominent on Google.
Metro has reached out to David Tennant and Google’s reps for comment.
