AI Supercomputer Predicts Super Bowl LIX Will Break Team's 60-Year Drought

The Detroit Lions are seeing a big boost ahead of the weekend's next round of NFL playoff games, according to sports betting site BetVictor Canada.

"Ahead of the NFL Playoffs, we knew an upset was on the cards—and that came when the Washington Commanders edged the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida," BetVictor Canada spokesperson Sam Boswell told Newsweek. "That has made the Detroit Lions' path to the Super Bowl more straightforward, and the BetVictor Canada supercomputer has given them a 20 percent chance of reaching the season showpiece in New Orleans."

BetVictor Canada used artificial intelligence to analyze the 2024 regular-season win-loss records, winning streaks, the strength of the teams' schedules, and playoff experience.

BetVictor Canada's Current Predictions on Teams' Chances of Reaching Super Bowl LIX:

1. Kansas City Chiefs – 25 percent
2. Detroit Lions – 20 percent
3. Baltimore Ravens – 18 percent
4. Philadelphia Eagles – 18 percent
5. Buffalo Bills – 16 percent
6. LA Rams – 10 percent
7. Washington Commanders – 7 percent
8. Houston Texans – 6 percent

Between the top two most likely teams to be in the Super Bowl, BetVictor Canada gives the Detroit Lions the winning chance of 52 percent over the Chiefs' 48 percent.

"The supercomputer has given the Kansas City Chiefs a 30 percent likelihood of meeting the Lions at Super Bowl LIX – but in a major twist, it is the Lions who the data analysis suggests will prevent Patrick Mahomes and Co. securing a three-peat," Boswell told Newsweek.

"The latest data suggests the Baltimore Ravens will stop the Buffalo Bills in their tracks at Highmark Stadium to set up a clash with the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, while the Philadelphia Eagles are the most likely opponent for the Lions in the NFC Championship game."

USA Today NFL reporter Ayrton Ostly agreed that the Chiefs will not become the first three-peat Super Bowl champs in NFL history. However, Ostly chose the Ravens to enter the Super Bowl against the Lions, with Detroit winning 28-23.

Sporting News writer Jacob Camenker also has a Ravens vs. Lions Super Bowl, but he calls for the Ravens to win 29-28.

USA Today NFL reporter Jack McKessy called for a Chiefs vs. Lions Super Bowl, with the Chiefs succeeding 34-31.

When Is Super Bowl 2025?

Super Bowl LIX will be on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. But don't worry if you need your football fix sooner because some playoff games are still on tap.
