Alan Hughes thought about leaving Ireland AM in the past, but he has great job satisfaction because he is allowed to do other things away from breakfast TV.
The much loved presenter is the face of the Stadium Panto every Christmas, where he plays Sammy Sausages, and he has hosted TV3's Family Fortunes.
But Alan has no plans to leave broadcasting to get into politics in the future.

Alan told RSVP Live: "Over 25 years there are times where you think maybe you have had a good run and you do want to do something else.
"But I have always had a parallel career of being in the panto and producing it.
"They have allowed me the time to have that other career, especially at Christmas, that has been brilliant. You overcome the early mornings when you still love your job."
However, Alan has no plans to get into politics like Gráinne Seoige.
He said: "Absolutely not! I know politicians, I am friends with politicians and I know the work that goes into it.
"I have seen the abuse first hand. I would never get involved with that.
"Gráinne is very vocal and very outspoken, but I never saw that one coming.
"Fair play to her if she feels like that is where her next passion lies and that is what she wants to do. We will be supporting her."
Ireland AM turned 25 last month and Alan has been there since the very first episode in 1999. Over the years, Alan has seen many mistakes happen live on air.

He said: "The great thing we have always managed to do is to not pretend it is not happening. If a bit of the set falls down or there is a bang in the studio, you acknowledge it and you bring the viewer with you.
"It is the only way to do it. Even if there is a mic fault, we will stop and get another mic. Things go wrong on live television and people know it is live.
"People love when things go wrong too. A few weeks ago Catherine Leyden set a tea towel on fire and the amount of texts and emails we got afterwards because it put a smile on their faces."
Alan is affable and bubbly, but has hasn't always hit it off with the people he has interviewed, namely American TV presenter Ellen DeGeneres.
He said: "The Ellen Show was on TV3 when Karl and I got married. The PR girl here organised for us to do a set visit when we went to LA for our honeymoon.
"She couldn’t have been nicer, she brought backstage and introduced us to her wife Portia and her mother. Karl and I thought we were in with Ellen, we were ready to forget about Ireland AM and move to America.
"A few years later I went to London to interview her for Finding Dory. I said hello to her and I thanked her for being so kind to me and Karl on the show. I wasn’t expecting her to remember, but she didn’t even look up.
"It threw me, I couldn’t believe she blanked me so clearly. You are not allowed to take pictures in interviews like that so I whipped out my phone and said ‘You did the Oscars selfie, I am taking my one’.
"As I was taking it, I could see her PR running across the room."
