Alex Scott's love life: Bad dates with Coronation Street star, secret Lioness romance and dating Jess Glynne

Former England football star Alex Scott has dated both men and women in the past. But which stars did she enjoy romances with?

Former England football star Alex Scott has been extremely secretive about her love life over the years.

The 40-year-old right-back represented her country from 2004 until 2017 playing in 140 games and scoring 12 goals - and she has also played professionally for Arsenal and Birmingham City as well as the Boston Breakers over in the USA. She has built up an impressive media career, offering her experience and expertise to be a pundit on shows including Soccer AM and Sky Sports’ Super Sunday.

When it comes to her love life, less is known but the star became an icon for the LGBTQ+ community after revealing she was in a years-long relationship with a fellow teammate while playing for England. The star hasn't labelled her sexuality and has been in relationships with men and women.

Currently, the star is in a relationship with pop star Jess Glynne, with the two first going public in winter 2023. But who else has Alex dated over the years?

Coronation Street star

Alex previously revealed she went on a date with Corrie star Sam Robertson - who is best known for playing Adam Barlow since 2004. She explained the duo tried to enjoy a night out but a member of the public invaded their privacy by taking a photo of the two.

Two years ago, she reminisced about the date and said she was excited to meet up with him. She said: “I never seem to have a lot of luck on dates. My one date in ages was going out with Sam [Robertson], who is lovely. The next morning, our pictures were all over the press because someone in the restaurant had taken a photo. It wasn't exactly a great start.”

In a later interview, Alex said she didn't mind being single as she is quite independent. She told The Sunday Times: “My life has always been about being independent, making sure you can look after yourself and never wanting to feel that someone can walk out on you and take everything away from you.”

She tried signing up for a dating app but didn't get around to using it as it felt 'unnatural' to her.

Secret Football Relationship

In her autobiography, How (Not) To Be Strong, the star revealed she was in a relationship with fellow Lioness Kelly Smith from 2005 until 2013. When they were together, Alex fell 'madly and deeply in love' with her teammate. She struggled to decide whether to open up about their romance in her book.

She said at her book launch last year: “I went back and forth on whether I’d actually be writing the chapter. But then it was one of those moments, I’m writing this book and I want to tell everything. I thought I’d be cheating you all if I didn’t put that in there. And for me, it’s like that first love story, I fell madly and deeply in love.

“And yes, there’s that heartbreak and those things, but it’s a huge part of my life and I wouldn’t go back and change that. Because that feeling of love and that excitement and what it gives you, it needed to be in there.”

Popstar Romance

In October, rumours swirled around about Alex Scott and popstar Jess Glynne, with reports claiming the two had been seeing each other for months.

At the time, a source said to The Sun: "Alex and Jess have been a slow burn and they didn't want to rush things or go public too soon. But they're officially an item now and seem really happy. They are both strong, independent women with a shared passion and respect for their respective careers, supporting one another from the sidelines."

During the same month, Alex shared a birthday message with Jess, which marked the first time she publically acknowledged their romance since reports first came out. The former footballer took to Instagram to pay tribute to the singer turning 34, posting a sweet snap in honour of her special day.

"Happy new song day and you day," Alex wrote alongside a photo of Jess posing on a sun-drenched deck next to the sea. Alex also added an extract of the Grammy winner's latest tune, Friend of Mine, to the post. It wasn't until a month later that they seemingly confirmed their romance when they were pictured kissing during a day out in London. The couple looked loved up as they hugged and shared a kiss on their walk before heading in different directions.

Alex opened up about her relationship with the flame-haired singer when she was the cover star of the May issue of Women's Health.

She said: “I’m in this bubble at the moment… I am more open to accepting and being more vulnerable and I’m absolutely enjoying this stage.

“I’m enjoying being like, okay, I’m just gonna roll with this. I think, before, I was very walls up. All those walls have, like, come down.”
