You’re not going to have to wait all that much longer to get the next step into the Alien universe. Today, FX ever-so-slightly cracked open the chestburster egg to let us know Alien: Earth is coming in Summer 2025–and teased a few more tiny details about just what the show will be about beyond Aliens and Earth.
To be fair, it did so by largely re-using the same teaser we got around Alien: Romulus. There’s an Earth, there’s a Xenomorph, boom, Alien: Earth! This time, however, the teaser is extended juuuust a little. Although largely the same, the teaser now concludes with a few short sharp flashes of footage among the static: there’s a shot of a Xenomorph egg hatching, a mysterious black eye (perhaps an Engineer?), and what appears to be a woman screaming. In space they can’t hear that, but on earth? They definitely can.
But beyond those flashes–nothing anywhere near as clear as the glimpses of footage we recently saw in Disney+’s 2025 preview–the biggest thing confirmed here is when exactly Alien: Earth is set, which is 2120. In Alien‘s vast chronology, that places it just two years before the events of the original 1979 movie. It had been previously reported that Earth would take place some three decades before the events of Alien, but this shift to a time period just before the movie is certainly interesting.
The show will, as the name suggests, be the first Alien project largely set on Earth, and follows a squad of tactical soldiers and a young woman who come across a mysterious vessel that crash lands on the planet, as part of a search and rescue operation. Of course, this is Alien, so what they find on board is not going to be pleasant, putting them on a dangerous path encountering terrible new forms of Xenomorph in a fight for survival.
