Amanda Holden has landed herself in hot water after a recent Instagram post.

The BGT judge, 54, is known for her active presence on social media, giving fans a glimpse into her life and ongoing projects. However, one of her posts has caused a stir.

Amanda has frequently shared photos of herself working behind the scenes on the BBC’s hit show Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job, where she helps transform homes alongside her comedian friend Alan Carr. In one of her snaps, she certainly proved she’s got the skills to revamp crumbling buildings, looking the part in a boilersuit and armed with an electric drill.

However, the star landed in hot water with the Beeb after appearing in a promotional video for rival channel QVC while wearing the same ‘Handy Mandy’ outfit from the renovation series, according to The Daily Mail. Amanda previously posted the 30-second clip on Instagram on February 3, teasing her appearance to promote her interior design range, BundleBerry.

Following the incident, Amanda reportedly received a stern warning from BBC bosses, who addressed her actions due to strict rules prohibiting presenters from featuring in ads connected to their TV roles.

Their rules state: "Actors and artists who perform in BBC output should not appear in promotional work, including advertisements, in a way which mimics or replicates their on-air roles for the BBC."

A BBC spokesperson said, "Amanda has removed her post and has been reminded of her responsibilities, as a BBC presenter, when using social media."

Back in May 2021, Nick Knowles found himself in a similar position after breaching BBC guidelines over his appearance in a cereal advert. The DIY SOS presenter was featured in an advertising campaign for Nestlé’s Shreddies, where he appeared wearing a hard hat and tool belt - just like his look on the BBC renovation series—and offered DIY advice to a family about starting their day.

Earlier this week, the Heart FM host turned heads at the Britain's Got Talent auditions, stepping out in a bold leopard print suit. The mum-of-two isn’t afraid to flaunt her best looks, even if they sometimes spark controversy. This year, the ITV talent show is back, with Amanda returning to her usual spot on the judging panel.

The show officially returns to our screens on Saturday, February 22. The first episode will air at 7pm on ITV1, STV, and ITVX, the broadcaster has confirmed. A teaser shows exciting highlights from the upcoming series and shows the incredible acts set to grace the stage and audition. As the teaser begins Declan Donnelly can be heard saying: "Please take your seats, the show is about to start."
