Amanda Seyfried has shared her decision to leave Hollywood was important for her wellbeing.
The actress was everywhere in the 2010s, starring in popular films like Mamma Mia!, Dear John and Les Misérables to name a few, while living in Los Angeles.
But years ago, the star left Los Angeles for New York City, moving to a farm.
Speaking to Forbes in a new interview, Seyfried, now 38, said the move to upstate New York was "essential for my mental health".

"I moved upstate long before I had a family," she told the outlet.
The Letters to Juliet star shares daughter Nina, seven, and son Thomas, four with husband of over seven years, actor Thomas Sadoski.
"Staying here was the best decision for privacy, peace and nature. It offers a more balanced life than the city does."

Since leaving Hollywood, the actress has continued to act, starring most recently in the 2024 comedy horror film, I Don't Understand You.
The star said she "acclimates to the faster lifestyle of the city, the high-energy of press events and life on-set" easier thanks to having a "peaceful" home base.
The actress married The Newsroom star Sadoski in 2017. They welcomed their first daughter Nina just weeks after eloping while Seyfried was pregnant.
The couple then had their second child Thomas in 2020.
Speaking of her major lifestyle change, Seyfried added she wants her kids to grow up "learning what a responsibility and treat it is to care for pets."

She said having her own dog of 15 years Finn kept her "grounded" while navigating Hollywood in her 20s.
Seyfried often shares photos of her life on the farm to her millions of followers on social media, posting pics of her horses, dogs and many other animals.
The actress started out in Hollywood as a teen, starring in the 2004 classic Mean Girls and appearing on the teen drama series Veronica Mars.
She then had her breakthrough role as Sophie in the 2008 musical film, Mamma Mia!.
Seyfried isn't the only star to leave Hollywood in favour of farm life, with Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder and his wife Nikki Reed, of Twilight fame, doing the same.
The couple relocated from Hollywood to a farm outside Los Angeles with their two children in 2019.
