Amy Adams had a fun karaoke moment with Taylor Swift but that led to a humorous regret.
While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Nightbitch star said years ago she met Swift at an awards show afterparty where they sang karaoke together to “What’s Going On?”
However, Adams admits she may have unknowingly upstaged the singer because she was really “in it.”
“I may have sang it a little loud and I’m sure everybody was like, ‘Amy, shut up! We want to hear Taylor sing.’ I was just in it,” Adams recalled. “But I should’ve just sat down and let Taylor sing upon reflection. I had a blast. And now in reflection, if I were to do it now I would be so different … I sang really loud over Taylor Swift, and probably not great either.”
Adams, who quipped that she’s became a “Swiftie at 50” after going to the Eras Tour with her daughter, joked of her fandom for the singer: “I’m like a shifty, 50, Swiftie. And I’m like, isn’t that nifty? And my daughter is going, ‘Oh, I hate this for you.'”
Though Adams has “always liked her music and appreciated” Swift, she said that the seeing the show her being a fan of the singer went from being “normal” to “‘I’ll take all the friendship bracelets!’ I was like, ‘Who am I?'”
As for her thoughts on fans saying she should play Swift’s publicist Tree Paine should the singer ever have a biopic, Adams said “Uh, that would be amazing. That would be so fun. If it got me closer to Taylor, then…”
Adams stars in the darkly comic film adaptation of Rachel Yoder’s 2001 novel Nightbitch. The satirical novel follows a mother whose domesticity takes a turn when she slowly realizes that she may be transforming into a dog. Marielle Heller directs with Anne Carey producing alongside Sue Naegle, Christina Oh and Stacy O’Neil, who is Adams’ partner at the Bond Group company.
