iOS 18 brought many changes to the Control Panel. One notable change was the ability to change the size and position of the toggles. It looks like Google is working on bringing this feature to the Quick Settings Panel with Android 16. Yup. Android 16 will let you resize toggles in the Quick Settings Panel allowing you to fit up to 16 toggles there.
It’s been a busy week with major OEMs releasing their OS versions. We saw Google releasing Android 15, Apple released iOS 18, and OnePlus released OxygenOS 15. And here we are already getting insights into Android 16, which is a good one year away. We have covered which devices are eligible for Android 15 and iOS 18 separately.
Android Authority reports that Google is working on a feature to let you resize the toggles inside the Quick Settings Panel. That will allow you to fit more shortcuts in the Quick Settings Panel making life easier. Another important update is a two-page layout where notifications and quick toggles will be shown separately much like iOS 18. So you will see notifications if you swipe from one side of the screen and see quick toggles if you swipe from the other side of the screen.
The feature is available in the in-development Quick Settings panel in Android 15 QPR Beta 3. If you can get in, you can resize toggles in the Quick Settings Panel before it arrives officially with Android 16.
After years of sticking to the same Quick Settings design, Google has finally decided to give it a fresh look. While it may not be everyone’s favorite, it’s a significant improvement over the current design, which many users found less than ideal.
This change comes as many other Android manufacturers have moved away from Google’s original design. Even those who have traditionally stuck close to stock Android, like Motorola and Nothing, have opted for different approaches.
It’s important to note that this new quick panel settings design is still in development, and Google may make further adjustments before the final release. As with any new feature, there’s always a chance that some elements might be removed or modified.
