After several rounds of beta testing, visionOS 2.2 is now the official current software version for Apple Vision Pro. Included with the update is a must-have feature for Mac users.
Mac Virtual Display grows up
Since launch, Apple Vision Pro has included a remote desktop feature called Virtual Mac Display. This lets you work in visionOS while also viewing your Mac in the same environment.
Starting with visionOS 2.2, Mac Virtual Display includes two more display formats: wide and ultra wide. The latter option essentially provides the equivalent of two 5K monitors with the amount of screen real estate it offers. It’s a complete whoa moment for Apple Vision Pro users — even if you’ve already spent months using spatial computing.
Whether you’re using the new M4 Mac mini or a notebook like the MacBook Air or MacBook Air, working with a dual 5K monitor setup from anywhere you go is a major productivity unlock.
More visionOS 2.2 features
visionOS 2.2 also introduces the ability to watch multiple streams of MLB or MLS content in Apple TV+ as well as spatial content from the web on Safari.
These are the full release notes for the latest operating system update to Apple Vision Pro:
- Mac Virtual Display: Wide (21:9) & Ultrawide (32:9), route Mac audio to Vision Pro
- Apple TV: Watch up to 5 MLS/MLB games with Multiview, live sports with SharePlay
- Safari: Tap to view spatial photos/videos on web pages
