Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney Head to Trial With Chef Penny Davidi Over Something About Her Sandwich Shop as Vanderpump Rules Stars Face Claims of Breached Contract and Failing to Pay Salary

Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney are headed to trial with Penny Davidi, the former chef of Something About Her.

Months after Penny filed a motion against the Vanderpump Rules alums, claiming they breached an agreement made in June 2023 that promised her 10 percent of their sandwich shop and a monthly salary of $7,500, which would eventually increase to $10,000, a judge has set a trial date.

According to documents obtained by In Touch Weekly on December 3, the Los Angeles judge scheduled the trial, which is expected to last up to five days, for March 16, 2026.

In the agreement Penny made with Ariana and Katie, it was reportedly stated that the trio was to “jointly engage in the business of developing, creating, owning, operating, promoting … and otherwise profiting and benefiting from … a restaurant, fashion, merchandise, and lifestyle, brand, business, and property … to be known as Something About Her.”

As noted by Penny, who came aboard the project as the shop’s chief operating officer (COO) and Director of Culinary, she spent a lot of time and money working on Something About Her and also obtained trademarks for the brand.

However, earlier this year, Penny parted ways with Ariana and Katie as their salary dispute was revealed.

In her case against the Pump Rules alums, Penny is asking a judge to confirm that their agreed-upon deal was valid and breached and order that Ariana and Katie hold up their ends of the bargain.

In response to Penny’s motion, Ariana and Katie have denied claims of wrongdoing, with their attorney alleging that their ex-chef did not provide enough evidence to back up her accusations against them.

They want her motion thrown out in its entirety.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun back in May, Penny suggested that Ariana and Katie stole her ideas, at least in part, for their menu for Something About Her.

“The sandwiches are not my creations, but they are definitely using some ingredients in each one that I introduced them to like Boursin cheese. I can say 50% of the menu are items that I gave them and they changed some things,” she stated.

Vanderpump Rules season 12 is expected to go into production in 2025 with an all-new cast.
