Ashley Roberts faced a rather unexpected culture shock after moving to the UK from the US.
During an exclusive chat with Daily Star, the Heart FM radio host admitted that the UK’s smaller portion sizes were something she quickly had to get used to after moving over from America.
She explained: “It was definitely something I noticed! Yeah, I think coming from the States, everything is more, more, more, so coming over I was like: ‘Okay…?’”

The former Pussycat Doll is partnering with Frankie & Benny’s to celebrate hearty American sized portions along with the brand’s New York Italian themed brunch menu, which is available everyday until 4pm.
“Coming from the States and being used to generous portions, I would say Frankie & Benny’s portions feels like home, which is nice! I think if you go out and spend money you want a nice, big plate of food, right?”
Ashley admitted that she is “obsessed with their menu,” which includes sandwiches, pancakes, tater tots and “all the bits you could ever want”. She also loves to get her girls together for brunch at the weekend, as the radio host is “usually up at 5am” for her Heart Radio presenting role during the week.
“I went in there recently and got to sample [the food], but I didn’t cook anything - I didn’t want to scare anybody!”
Although Ashley loves popping down to Frankie & Benny’s for their towering plates, the singer isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty in the kitchen back at home. “I enjoy eating food - during lockdown I was getting quite frisky in the kitchen, I was feeling myself! I was like: ‘Okay, I can do this!’”
Ashley’s guilty pleasure? Ditching her plans and having a night in to herself: “So, the other day I did exactly this: I cancelled all my plans, I was like: ‘It’s cold, I’m tired!’”
“I started binge watching and I made a vodka pasta, quite creamy, I poured a big old cup of vodka, some cream - a big old hearty portion, that’s how I like it!”
