Aussie actor Nicholas Eadie, known for Vietnam and Cop Shop, dies aged 67

Australian actor Nicholas Eadie has died aged 67.

His death was announced by fellow actor and close friend Will Conyers on Facebook.

"I send my deepest sympathy to all those that were touched by this very special artist and human being," Conyers wrote.

Actor and friend Garry Scale also shared a tribute post to Eadie, noting that "there are few details of his passing".

"It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our friend Nicholas Eadie," Scale wrote on Facebook.

"Nick has been suffering with ill health for sometime now and was recently diagnosed with diabetes.

"Please raise a glass or two tonight and remember the good times.

"We'll all gather somewhere soon in a place with very loud music. Vale dear friend xx"

Eadie was a graduate from NIDA in Sydney who went on to become well known for his roles in TV shows such as Cop Shop, The Henderson Kids, A Country Practice and Medivac.

As far as films go, he appeared in projects such as The Man from Snowy River II and the 1988 film Fragments of War which saw him nominated for an AFI Award.

In 1987 Eadie starred opposite Nicole Kidman in the miniseries, Vietnam.

He played Phil Goddard, a soldier conscripted to fight in the war who then became traumatised after his unit was ordered to destroy a Vietnamese village. 

Eadie's role in the TV show saw him go on to win the Logie for most popular actor in a single drama miniseries, as well as the series itself named most popular. 

His last credited on-screen role was in the 2011 TV film Underbelly Files: The Man Who Got Away.
