Awkward Moment Bridesmaid Realizes Outfit Mistake: 'Too Late'

2 months ago 11

Most brides choose to coordinate everything their bridesmaids wear, from matching dresses down to their choice of shoes. But one bridesmaid faced a nightmare situation when she discovered an issue with her heels for the big day—which she only noticed when it was too late.

While attending the wedding for her former college roommate, Jaime Gialloreto, 25, and her fellow bridesmaids wore matching velvet halter-neck dresses, gold strappy heels, and wore their hair in similar updos.

After getting ready and making sure everyone in the bridal party looked perfect, it dawned on Gialloreto, of New Jersey, that her shoes felt off. Something about the left side didn't feel the same as the right—and that was indeed the case. As they were about to head into the church, she realized she was wearing two different styles of shoe, telling Newsweek she "thought it was so funny."

Back in the spring, the bride sent each bridesmaid a link to the gold heels on Amazon, which cost $38, according to Gialloreto. She now believes that the retailer mistakenly sent her two different shoes and she didn't notice until it was "too late." Newsweek has reached out to Amazon via email for comment.

Gialloreto said: "The shoes have a strap that wraps around the ankle, and my friend noticed that hers didn't look like mine. I thought I'd tied them together wrong, until I realized my shoes were completely different.

"The funny thing is that I wore the shoes to get my dress tailored and didn't even notice. I do find it alarming that I didn't realize the shoes were different heights—I mustn't have been standing very still."

In the months between purchasing the shoes and wearing them for the wedding, Gialloreto had no idea they didn't match. However, once she realized, it was "all [she] could pay attention to." Not only were the straps different, but there was also around an inch difference in the heel heights.

Her bridesmaid dress covered the shoes for the most part. However, there was a slit in the dress that kept revealing the incorrect shoe. Of course, it made for a memorable story, and Gialloreto found herself telling all the other guests anyway.

"If I hadn't noticed, I wouldn't have paid any attention to them. But, eventually, my hips hurt from the heels being uneven," she said. "No one else seemed to notice, but I totally brought it up to everyone I spoke to."

At the time of writing, Gialloreto hasn't contacted Amazon about her purchase.

She posted a hilarious clip on TikTok (@jaimegialloreto) showing the moment she noticed her odd shoes before the wedding commenced. The video went viral with more than 3.7 million views and over 263,200 likes since it was shared on October 13. Alongside the clip, the caption reads: "No one tell the bride!"

The reaction to the video has been overwhelmingly positive, as plenty of people found it hilarious, but Gialloreto hopes others will use it as a lesson to always check their shoes before attending an event.

"I will never neglect to triple-check that I have two correct shoes again, especially if I'm supposed to match seven other girls," she added.

With over 550 comments on the viral TikTok video, many people lauded the bridesmaid's misfortune.

One comment reads: "why is it kinda cute that way tho."

Another TikTok user wrote: "OK trendsetter."

A third TikTok user responded: "Had to watch 3 times before seeing the difference."
