US actor Hudson Joseph Meek, best known for his role in Baby Driver, has died aged 16.
According to local authorities, Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the screen star’s death occurred after he fell from a moving vehicle in Alabama last week.
He sustained blunt force injuries dropping from a 1900 block of Canyon Road in Vestavia Hills, per People.
The late actor had 17 projects to his name, according to IMDb, including his role as Young Baby in Baby Driver, Boy in MacGyver, Tiberius in Legacies, and most recently, Sirius in The School Duel.
His earliest work dates back to 2014 when he starred in an uncredited role as Wiseman in The Santa Con.
Meek’s death was announced on his Instagram page on December 21 with a photo of him in a suit, smiling at the camera.
‘Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.
‘Specific details regarding a Celebration of Hudson’s Life to be held on December 28, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School in lieu of flowers, will follow.
‘Please pray for Hudson’s family and friends as we all process this sudden and tragic loss.’
His obituary described him as a ‘reflective and thoughtful’ person who was ‘tenacious when he set his mind to something’.
It continued: ‘Hudson was also an accomplished actor. He worked on several major motion pictures and television shows, some of which will be released in 2025.
‘He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the chance to learn the names and stories of every member of the cast and crew.’
Tributes have poured in from fans and friends on social media, remembering Meek’s life.
‘What a guy of character. I truly have the upmost respect for him and his family. Praying for you Meek family,’ @allisonmanners commented on Instagram.
‘One of the funniest, friendliest, and life giving people I got to meet💚 so many prayers for the Meeks,’ @lilliangracemcgehee added.
Descendants star Brenna D’Amica wrote: ‘I am so so sorry. Keeping you are all in my prayers.’
‘You were such a good person and friend who was kind to everyone. We’re really gonna miss you and the light you shared with the world,’ @caleb.vaults.27 added.
Meek was born in August 2008 in Alabama. He attended Vestavia Hills High School as a sophomore and played for the Vestavia Hills Rebel Football Team.
His hobbies included ‘playing and watching all sports, but especially football, basketball, boxing.’
He was also a devoted Christian, as the obituary shared: ‘He loved Bible Study meetings, youth retreats, mission trips, and just being at church.’
He is survived by his parents, Derek Firth Meek and Lani Wells Meek, and older brother, Tucker Firth Meek.
A Celebration of Hudson’s Life will take place on December 28, 2024 at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church which will be livestreamed on his Instagram account.
