Barry McGuigan broke down in tears as he told his campmates about the tragic passing of his daughter on I’m A Celebrity.

Barry was comforted by the cast as he got emotional while speaking about the death of his daughter Danika, ‘Nika’, who passed away in 2019 at age 33 shortly after being diagnosed with cancer.

While sitting around the campfire, Dean asked the Irish boxer if he goes to mass, to which Barry replied: “I used to go to church a lot but after my daughter… you know, not so much.”

Actress Danika was diagnosed with acute lymphoid leukaemia when she was 11-years-old. However she beat the illness and lived a full and happy life until she was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer at age 33. She passed away just five weeks later.

Barry said: “She had leukaemia, when I was making the movie The Boxer with Daniel Day Lewis, three weeks from the end I had to leave because she’d been diagnosed with leukaemia, they thought she wasn't going to get better but she fought back and she won it.

"She had two years of chemo. She was good, she came back..."

Fighting back tears, Barry explained: “Stage four bowel cancer, five weeks. Five weeks and she died.”

Tulisa told Barry: “You’re a man going through pain and you’re vulnerable about it, that takes strength. There is no rules to grieving… it’s a reflection of your love”.

Barry thanked his campmates for their comforting words. "Thank you, you’re all so lovely. I really appreciate it.”

Barry and his wife Sandra are also parents to three sons, Shane, Jake and Blane.
