EastEnders enthusiasts believe they've cracked the mystery of who murdered Cindy Beale, following the dramatic Christmas Day double episode.

In a shocking turn of events, Cindy, portrayed by Michelle Collins, 62, was killed with a spade after her affair with Junior Knight came to light and her clueless partner, Ian Beale, kicked her out.

The scandalous liaison between conniving Cindy and Junior, the son of her ex-husband George Knight, was revealed via an audio recording played to the entire pub. Ian was devastated to learn of his partner's infidelity and dissatisfaction with their relationship, while George was horrified to discover Cindy's tryst with his son.

One by one, the residents of Walford, including Cindy's daughters Anna and Gina and son Peter, turned against her. Even Ian saw through the blonde bombshell's lies and evicted her, leaving her distraught.

However, as the episode drew to a close, there was a shocking twist. With nowhere else to go, Cindy found herself wandering around the square when suddenly a faceless killer picked up a metal spade and ended her days in Walford for good, reports the Mirror.

Others chimed in, with one agreeing and another expressing their enthusiasm, saying "I would love this!"

Recent EastEnders spoilers hinted at a possible return for Cindy Jr, after Cindy Snr went in search of her estranged daughter to reveal the truth about her past. Cindy made a surprise return to the show last year, having been presumed dead since 1998 when she was killed off-screen while in prison.

Cindy Jr had always struggled with the circumstances of her mother's death, which was said to have occurred during her birth. However, when Cindy Jr discovered her mother was alive, she rejected her, even telling her she wished she was dead.

Disappointed fans had hoped for a reunion between the two, but were left demanding a return for Cindy Jr, even if brief, to see her back in Walford and interacting with her mother. Amidst the speculation, Anna actress Molly Rainford shared her thoughts on a potential return for Cindy Jr.

She also aligned with fans' wishes, advocating for the return of the character and suggesting the present as the ideal time for kin to reunite. She expressed: "Yeah I'd love for her to return, absolutely. I feel like she must be around Anna and Gina's age too so that would be good!"
