A hunky BBC star has been botted off of a dating app.

Gethin Jones, who hosts BBC One's Morning Live, set up a profile on Hinge but got removed from the app as a whopping 300 women assumed he was a fake account and reported him. So it seems the former Blue Peter star's swiping days are over, or at least for now.

He said: "A couple of weeks ago I was kicked off Hinge twice in eight hours for violating the Code of Conduct. Three hundred women had reported me for catfishing."

Speaking on the new Restless Natives podcast he went on: "It was that moment when you have to write to Hinge, on a Thursday night, all alone, ‘Dear Hinge, it’s Gethin here, 46, I just want to get my money back because it’s not really working for me’, eating some cereal because there’s nothing in the fridge.

Admitting to hosts Martin Compston and Gordon Smart that he questioned his life decisions, he added: "That’s when I’m like, ‘What am I doing with my life."

Gethin previously dated dated opera queen Katherine Jenkins, German model Katja Zara and TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh. It's hard to believe he has a hard time finding love, but it seems people on dating apps think he's too good to be true.

Gethin told Daily Star how he nearly died while filming Blue Peter in Africa. He had been scaling the side of Spitzkoppe, the tallest friction climb in Namibia, when things took a terrifying turn and he almost plummeted to his death.

Recalling his near-fatal fall, Gethin said: "I almost came off Spitzkoppe. Tallest friction climb in Namibia. I almost came off the side because of the wind.

"I had to go up a second time to get a wide shot. Classic Blue Peter. The second time the wind picked up and I almost lost my bearings and fell off the side of the mountain."

Sarcastically acting out the chat he had with the producer which could have gotten him killed, he added: "‘Can you do it again for the wide shot?’ ‘Yeah, sure!’"
