Ian Hislop was hit by an electric bike as he crossed the road, leaving him needing medical treatment and a head bandage.

The Private Eye editor, 64, was spotted out with his wife in London last night wearing a smart black tuxedo with a bow tie.

Hislop was reportedly crossing the road before a fast-moving bike collided with him on Wednesday afternoon.

The long-serving BBC star was seen wearing the white bandage later on at an event in the capital.

A spokesperson for the magazine confirmed the accident, saying he was "hit by an electric bike whilst crossing the road yesterday afternoon".

Despite the collision, he is said to be doing well after receiving medical treatment for his injuries.

It comes just months after the huge TV star was reportedly involved in a serious alleged shooting in London.

A black cab driver told police he was on Dean Street when the rear window of his car was shattered.

He believed a bullet was fired through the glass causing it to smash.
