Thank the stars above. Captain Jason Chambers is returning to Bravo soon, courtesy of Below Deck Down Under Season 3. The trailer just dropped for his third televised run on the high seas, and all we can say is yes. From drama to drunkenness to the first-time-ever hiring of a sous-chef, this season looks promising AF.
Season 3 will not feature Aesha Scott. We will miss her lighthearted interactions with Captain Jason moving forward. However, our earlier predictions have just proven true. Two of our favorite yachties from Season 2 will be back on board, which we love.
We see you, Tzarina Mace-Ralph and Harry Van Vliet. But what else did we see in this trailer for BDDU Season 3? Let us count the most chaotic moments that we happily clocked now.
The Below Deck Down Under Season 3 trailer
Watch the trailer above before we dive in. Speaking of diving, Captain Jason spends the first few beats of this trailer underwater, likely appreciating the silence. This hot man has been at the wheelhouse for 25 years. Therefore, he has learned how to pick his battles, but with a new Bosun and Chief Stew onboard, the learning curve in Season 3 might be steep.
Foam parties, speedos, and costumes appear throughout this trailer alongside tears, a firing, multiple hookups, and warring department heads. Overall, BDDU Season 3 is launching in choppy waters on Bravo.
Captain Jason lays down the law in Season 3 of BDDU
“In my 25 years (of being a captain), I’ve learned that you can’t control everything,” Captain Jason narrates as his body sinks further into the sea. As he speaks and descends downward to land on a rock, Harry appears, struggling with a jet ski. Cue Captain Jason, thrusting himself off his watery chair to return to the water’s surface like the pensive Merman of our dreams.
Shortly after, he learns that a tender got stuck in the sand. Captain Cutie is now annoyed. But his feelings quickly self-correct, as in his next appearance, Captain Jason is in his black uniform, dancing on deck with his lucky charter guests. Following this, my our man of the hour appears in a ringmaster costume with a whip in his hands, and now I need a minute.
As the norm dictates, Captain Jason will also fire someone this season. We do not yet know who this axed crew member will be, but the clues in the following two sections point towards this naughty yachtie being a department head.
Lara Rigby has her hands full in BDDU Season 3
Chief Stew Lara Rigby enters the Below Deck franchise this season. While we will miss Aesha, fresh faces are always exciting, as you never know what they will bring to the hopefully highly decorated tables on board this series.
Two new (to Bravo) stews will join Lara in her quest for perfection. But as the trailer shows, Lara, Brianna Duffield, and Marina Marcondes de Barros will have many ups and downs as they cater to the demanding needs of their affluent guests. But the fires growing below these highly polished decks are the hottest.
“The cabins have to be perfect. Iron the creases. Polish the cutlery. No fingerprints on the table. I want the glassware spotless. Remember, don’t pour too much. It’s not great, [so] do it again,” Lara commands, as flashbacks show her stews hard at work, trying to appease their boss.
Not appeasing Lara, however, is Tzarina. Lara labels Tzarina a “d*ckhead” as Tzarina explains that Lara is unorganized and controlling. Things get so bad that Captain Jason has to enter the chat. Lara tells her boss that Tzarina is being a bully, as Captain Jason later stresses that the heads of his departments need to pump the breaks on their fighting. If not, one of these boss broads might get fired.
Lara also argues with a male whose face fails to materialize in the trailer. Godspeed, Lara.
Wihan Du Toit will also face down various problems in BDDU Season 3
Like Lara, Wihan Du Toit is a new department head on Bravo. This Bosun has nine years of experience, so at least his skills are not green. However, his skills might pay his bills, but if his team cannot get along, Wihan might start living in the red.
Harry, Johnny Arvanitis, and Adair Werley are joining Wihan on deck. Each of these yachties has experience, so Wihan is already starting this season of BDDU at a great place. However, no one can control the weather, which threatens to ruin at least one of their charter guests’ parties on board.
Interpersonal issues also strike. Wihan encounters Harry below deck and forcefully tells his deckhand to stop what he is doing. Wihan later asks a stressed-out Johnny to talk to him, but Johnny explodes, screaming, “DON’T F*CKING TALK TO ME!” before lashing out at the yacht itself. Not a wise move.
Likewise, at the end of the trailer, Captain Jason appears to have Wihan, Lara, and Tzarina in his wheelhouse, revealing that he has to let one of them go. With watery eyes, Wihan nods that he understands.
Hookups are prevalent, as is the addition of a sous-chef on BDDU Season 3
Anthony Bird is our first-ever sous-chef in this franchise. Tzarina finally has an extra set of hands, but as the trailer reveals, Anthony is not always the one for Tzarina. Thankfully, the guests that briefly appear like their food. But if these two continually butt heads, we might have a reoccurring problem in the galley.
From what we can see and hear, Anthony likes his ways and methods, but Tzarina equally enjoys hers. “My sous-chef thinks he is better than me,” Tzarina complains as Captain Jason steps in to help them “manage” their differences.
However, one aspect that remained the same is the overwhelming urgency to secure a boatmance, which BDDU Season 3 seems filled with. “Everyone’s dating on this boat,” Harry quips as a montage of different yachties emerges, all in various degrees of coupling up with each other. Thankfully, Harry “has some game now,” so he will finally be included in this category.
Overall, this season looks messy and highly watchable. So, consider us seated this February 3 for the debut episode of BDDU Season 3.
Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock.
