Ben Affleck is leaning on his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, as he evacuated his Pacific Palisades home amid the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
The Gone Girl actor, 52, looked focused as he left his home in his vehicle, in photos obtained by TMZ on Wednesday, January 8. Ben rushed to his ex-wife, 52, who lives nearby and is the mother of their three children.
The Elektra star’s home has not been evacuated yet, though the area remains on standby. It’s uncertain whether Ben went to her house to check on the family or because he needed shelter after leaving his own home.
The fires in Los Angeles began earlier this week and, as of 7 a.m. local time on Wednesday, January 8, had grown into four named wildfires affecting various areas of Southern California, according to CalFire.
The fire has ravaged Pacific Palisades and other areas on L.A.’s westside, home to numerous celebrities such as Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Mark Hamill, Eugene Levy and many more.
While the exact number of celebrities who have lost their homes remains unclear, reality TV stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag watched their home go up in flames, with many others facing a similar fate.
Los Angeles City Council member Traci Park announced earlier today on the Today show that no fatalities have been reported in connection with the fires, describing it as “an absolute miracle.”
“I really want to commend neighbors in the area for their swift response and compliance with local orders,” the government official reported. “As you’ve reported, this was a fire that grew and moved very, very quickly with the wind conditions as well as all of the dry conditions.”
In recent weeks, Ben has been relying on his ex-wife for support in more ways than one. The former couple, who were married from 2005 to 2018, share three children — Violet, Fin and Samuel. Since Ben’s breakup with Jennifer Lopez in August, the Good Will Hunting star has been frequently seen with Jen, including their most recent time together celebrating Christmas.
“Ben leans on her for everything, he’s got his own place but he’s still at her house all the time for family dinners and she never fails to send him home with a care package of food,” a source exclusively told In Touch of Ben and Jen’s relationship on December 5, 2024. “She’s very concerned about his health, to the point where she reminds him when he needs to see the doctor and the dentist and even sends him vitamins to take because she’s convinced he doesn’t get enough healthy food when she’s not cooking for him.”
While Ben has turned to his ex-wife for comfort as his divorce from J. LO has been finalized, In Touch’s source claimed “This isn’t new.”
“Even when he was married to J. Lo he’d got to Jen for her advice, which as you can imagine did not do his marriage any favors,” the insider explained. “But now he’s single again and free to talk to her 10 times a day if he wants, and there are days he does.”
