"That was a scene from a movie, okay?"
Benzino has addressed rumors of domestic abuse and his deteriorating mental health after a video showing him acting erratically surfaced on social media.
On Wednesday (Dec. 18), video of Benzino crawling on a floor in his home while holding a knife and calling out for his girlfriend went viral, causing concern for him and the woman, Ashley Bell’s, safety and well-being.
One person who would react to the disturbing clip was 50 Cent, who used it as an opportunity to cast the Boston native in a negative light.
“Benzino caught on video by his girlfriend Ashley Bell threatening to unalive him self with a knife because she called the cops for him allegedly beating her,” Fif captioned a post sharing the video on his own Instagram page later that day.
However, Benzino has since come out to set the record straight, as he says the frightening footage was filmed in an effort to help his hone his acting skills, as it was practice for an upcoming role in a film he’s been cast in.
“I want to let everybody know that that was a rehearsal for a Tubi movie,” the “Rock The Party” rapper claimed. “My girl was helping me out. We was doing a script reading and that was a rehearsal for a Tubi movie. That was a scene from a movie, okay?”
He continued, refuting the assertion that he would physically assault a woman while denouncing anyone guilty of that conduct.
“I would never ever put my hands on any woman,” Benzino added. “I’ve never done that in my life. That’s for cowards, and I surely wouldn’t do anything to hurt myself. So, shout out to all the people that was concerned, but I’m okay.”
In his response, the 59-year-old also took a jab at 50 Cent, as he responded by sarcastically “thanking” his longtime adversary for indirectly creating engagement for him on social media. “I also want to let Curtis know, good looking,” he said. “Thanks, Curtis, for promoting me. Keep on posting me.”
