Sony’s new ULT series had a lot of surprises in store for us this year. The new ‘ULT’ range rocked everything from portable speakers to an audio tower. The only pair of headphones in the series, ULT Wear, put up a decent performance as well. These headphones are equipped with Sony’s in-house V1 chip and 40mm dynamic drivers. The result is a lush and detailed soundstage that is very close to Sony’s best. The special ‘ULT’ button on the headphones bumps up the bass in the mix. The ULT Wear supports SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs, with support for the low-latency LC3 codec arriving soon.

The V1 chip also contributes to digitally cancelling the surrounding noise. When we used the Sony ULT Wear, we were able to completely nullify the ambient sounds from the ceiling fan and air conditioner. There’s also a handy transparency mode onboard which helps you in having conversations with people around you. Sony has also equipped these headphones with premium proprietary features like 360 Reality Audio. On a full charge, these headphones offer a battery life of 50 hours with ANC turned off and 30 hours with ANC disabled.
