Blockbuster Three-Team Trade Proposal Would Send Massive Haul To Phillies

Free agency rumors have dominated this winter's offseason chatter, but it's the trades that might steal the show.

One of the teams that continues to find itself in the middle of all the trade rumors, for good reason, is the St. Louis Cardinals. St. Louis is rumored to be beginning a rebuild which could include trading a few of its veterans, including third baseman Nolan Arenado and closer Ryan Helsley.

MLB Network's Anthony Castrovince has pitched a blockbuster three-team trade between the Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, and Seattle Mariners that would move both these Cardinals veterans, as well as a few other stars.

Here's the full trade pitched by Castrovince:

Philadelphia Phillies acquire: 3B Nolan Arenado, RHP Ryan Helsley, RHP Emerson Hancock, Cash Considerations

St. Louis Cardinals acquire: OF Justin Crawford (PHI number 3 prospect), RHP Mick Abel (PHI number 6 prospect), OF Lazaro Montes (SEA number 3 prospect)

Seattle Mariners acquire: 3B Alec Bohm

Let's break this down team by team.

The Cardinals would be sending off two players they want to move anyway. Arenado and Helsley likely won't be involved in their next World Series push, so trading them for prospects works. The trio of prospects they would receive, headlined by Montes and Crawford, would provide a lot of upside for St. Louis.

The Phillies would be moving Bohm, who they're interested in moving, and replacing him with Nolan Arenado. Though more expensive, Arenado is a much better overall player, when healthy. Philadephia would also acquire a young starting pitcher with high potential from Seattle alongside the Cardinals closer. The Phillies would accept this deal in a heartbeat.

The deal would get caught up with the Mariners. It's hard to imagine the Mariners being willing to move one of their best prospects and a young starting pitcher for Bohm. If the Mariners could grab another player, preferably a bat or potentially a reliever, this deal would be possible.

Overall, not a bad trade proposal, though it's a bit outlandish to pitch such a blockbuster right now.
