Blue Jays Urged To Trade $34 Million All-Star Infielder To Shocking AL Contender

The Toronto Blue Jays have whiffed on Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto during the past two offseasons. Toronto now holds onto two All-Star infielders, Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who have both garnered quite a lot of trade attention.

Out of the two, Bichette is the one that sounds like a realistic trade chip. He's still young and talented, though he had quite a rough 2024 season.

FanSided's Christopher Kline recently pitched the idea of Toronto trading Bichette to the Seattle Mariners, also citing a report from The Athletic's Jim Bowden.

"In his latest mailbag for The Athletic, former MLB GM Jim Bowden responded to a question about Bichette and the Seattle Mariners," Kline wrote. "He believes Toronto could get two top-10 prospects for the talented shortstop, with top M's prospects Colt Emerson and Cole Young on the table for Toronto. Such a return could give the Blue Jays' farm system a significant boost.

"The Mariners are willing to trade some of their top prospects for a 'major-league-ready first- or third-base bat,' which means Bichette would slide over to the hot corner in Seattle. There's a nonzero chance Toronto would prefer to send Bichette to the National League, but getting him out of the division and to the opposite coastline should be enough."

If the Mariners are serious about trading two top prospects, one being Cole Emerson, the Blue Jays would be foolish to not listen to the offers.

Seattle has a history of being extremely aggressive in the trade market. When the front office feels like the Mariners can win, they go get more talent. Seattle could trade these top prospects while also looking to move starting pitcher Luis Castillo.
