A man's trip to see the new Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothée Chalamet, has sparked debate online after he brought an unusual item to the cinema.

The filmgoer, known as @timtomposting on social media, headed off to see 'A Complete Unknown' and caused a stir when he shared a snap confirming he was "seated" for the movie with a strange item on his person.

While he later commended the film and Chalamet's portrayal of Bob Dylan, it was his choice of cinema accessory that really got people talking. Taking to social media, he wrote: "Singing along during Wicked is fine, but when I bust out the harmonica suddenly it's a problem."

Accompanying the post was a photo showing the theatre's poster for the Dylan biopic and the controversial harmonica. The harmonica divided opinions among cinema enthusiasts. One supporter humorously suggested that @timtomposting was simply ahead of his time, writing: "You were just in an anti-art crowd, it's not your fault."

Another added to the split decision seen on X, writing: "Did they advertise a harmonica along showing? That'd be fun." Responding to the comments, the original poster admitted there were no such advertised screenings but agreed it would be "a really good idea" for future events.

The harmonica-playing film fan couldn't hold back their enthusiasm for Timothée Chalamet's portrayal of Bob Dylan, exclaiming: "It was sooooo good!!! I am floored LMAO they really weren't kidding when they said Timmy disappeared into Bob in this cus that's exactly how I'd say it!"

Fellow X users cheered on the cinema musician, adding: "Keep playing! It's what Bob would want you to do!" Meanwhile, others chimed in with a defence of the unique act of bringing a harmonica along to the movies.

One fan humorously pointed out: "Oh so you can sing-along when you go see Wicked but as soon as I start playing harmonica during A Complete Unknown I get kicked out of the theatre." Not everyone was amused by the idea, though, with one person commenting: "So annoying though."

The harmonica controversies follow on from Timothée Chalamet confirming he had an intense preparation plan in place to help him become Dylan. Chalamet confirmed he spent years preparing for the role. He said: "When I took this role I went to Bob Dylan's childhood home and saw all the original Sun Records he had. It took me five years to learn to play the guitar.

"All the downtime in-between filming I would just play. I also learned how to play harmonica for the role. It is the perfect thing to pull out at a party and make everyone go: 'Oh my God!".
