Bobby Flay had nothing but great things to say about pal Kristin Cavallari after going viral for their “undeniable” chemistry.
The Food Network star, 59, joined Cavallari, 37, on her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast last month to discuss his new cookbook, “Chapter One.” However, the interview quickly steered from cooking advice to their dating lives — with the chef revealing he once slid into Cavallari’s DMs.
Although the “Hills” star wasn’t interested then, listeners encouraged her to give the “charming” chef a shot — which Flay insists isn’t gonna happen.
“I mean, there wasn’t really much there,” he told People with a laugh on Thursday.
“Kristin and I have been friends for a long time, and so I called her and I was like, ‘I want to do your podcast. I think it’ll be fun.’”
Flay explained that Cavallari’s podcast opened him up to a different demographic of listeners compared to “some of the other ones that [he] was doing, which are really just basically based on food.”
“I love her energy, and I also really respect her as a businesswoman,” he said of the “Laguna Beach” star.
“She’s fun. She’s a baller, she’s a mom, she’s got three kids,” he continued. “She runs her jewelry business, she runs her podcast business, she runs her whole Kristin Cavallari life and she does it incredibly well.”
During Flay’s appearance on Cavallari’s podcast, he admitted he once asked her out for dinner — but insisted it was meant to be a friendly meet-up after she rejected him.
“I DMed you and I said to you … ‘I’m going to be in Nashville for one night, can I take you to dinner?’” Flay recalled. “And you literally said something to me like, ‘I’m already dating somebody.’”
Although Cavallari said she was “burnt out on dating” at the time, Flay stuck to his story.
“No, you said, ‘I’ve already started seeing somebody’! And I said, ‘I just want to go to dinner with you,’” he replied, laughing.

Cavallari called the misunderstanding a “foot-in-mouth” moment, admitting she shouldn’t have assumed Flay had romantic intentions.
“I think the ‘take you to dinner’ thing is more where it was like, ‘Oh, that seems like a date,’” she explained.
It’s unclear when the mix-up occurred. However, the pair ended up going to dinner “a few months ago” and had “the best time.”
Flay split from girlfriend Christina Pérez, 43, in June after three years of dating. Meanwhile, Cavallari recently broke up with her 24-year-old beau, Mark Estes.
Elsewhere during the episode, the thrice-divorced chef admitted he is not interested in getting married again but would love to find a “life partner.”
However, he is hesitant to “start dating again” as he doesn’t “want to go on the [dating] apps” and have his love life become “a public thing.”
“I’m a very private person with my private life,” he said. “Other people like to talk about my private life, I don’t like to talk about it because the rest of my life is so public, because I’ve been on television basically my entire adult life. So I like keeping as much as I can of my private life to myself.”
Cavallari, for her part, also has very specific requirements for her next partner: a vasectomy.
