The news that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had finally settled their divorce after an eight-year battle stunned fans on Monday, Dec. 30. The unexpected move ended one of Hollywood’s most epic power-couple splits and allowed both parties to finally move on for good.

Jolie’s lawyer James Simon told People the reason why she was ready to end the divorce drama had everything to do with their six children. “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” he said to the media outlet. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

So, what was Pitt’s motivation to stop battling his ex in court? Well, he might have been encouraged by his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon. “He was influenced by Ines to finally settle. Ines wants to have a life together — with possibly children in the future — without the albatross that was the eight-year War of the Roses,” a source told Page Six. “She has made [it known that] her opinion is that life would be much more enjoyable with this settled.”

It sounds like de Ramon had a major impact on the settlement finally happening ahead of the new year. A second insider described the 32-year-old jewelry executive as a “positive influence” on Pitt. The couple has been dating since November 2022 when they were first spotted at a Bono concert in Los Angeles with Cindy Crawford, her husband Rande Gerber, and Sean Penn. She was previously married to The Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley from 2019-2022.

Pitt and de Ramon have reportedly been thinking about starting a family together, per Closer Weekly. “Brad and Ines would love to have a baby together – it’s something they’re both taking seriously and he’s made it clear it’s not going to be a one-and-done situation. He has no doubt Ines will make a wonderful mum,” the insider claimed. Of course, that possible family news comes on the heels of his estrangement from his six children with Jolie, Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.

It’s unclear where Pitt’s relationship stands with his children amid the divorce settlement and there is still a legal battle over their winery, Château Miraval, but perhaps the healing can begin for all parties involved.
