Bride Looks Back Through Wedding Photos, Unprepared for What She Sees

2 hours ago 1

For many people, going through wedding pictures is a great way to relive those special moments. But when one bride was looking back through pictures of her big day, she made the hilarious realization that it didn't even look like she married her husband—but rather, her bridesmaid instead.

Author Lisa J. Evans, 35, shared a hilarious video last week to TikTok (@lisajevans_writes) showing some of the many (and she means many) photos of her and her closest friend, Emma Savage, 35, at the wedding. It's not unordinary for a bride to take photos with her bridesmaids, but Evans and Savage took it to a new level as they were pictured dancing together, sitting on each other's laps, and even cutting the cake while the groom stood in the background.

While the wedding took place in March 2018, Evans told Newsweek that she'd never "fully noticed the dynamic" of the photos until now. She recently showed her 5-year-old son the photos, and he had one simple question: "Did you marry Emma, or Daddy?"

Evans, from Cardiff, Wales, explained that Savage is a professional baker, and she made their wedding cake. Indeed, that was why they asked her to join the cake cutting photos, which were captured by Chris Daw Photography (@chrisdawphoto on Instagram).

"I had seven bridesmaids in total, and there are similar photos with them, like hugging, dancing, and laughing together. But Emma's stood out because of the cake-cutting photo and others where it looks like she's my wife," Evans, who recently released her debut novel Inside Her, said.

She continued: "I didn't fully realize how funny it was until years later when my son pointed it out. Of course, I noticed Emma was in a lot of pictures (as were all the bridesmaids), but I was just grateful to my photographer for capturing all that love and fun."

For a time, the duo used to live and work in the same city, so not a day went by when they wouldn't meet up and see each other. Now they live several hours apart, but they still make the effort to chat all the time.

Thankfully, Evans and Savage will always be able to look at the numerous wedding photos they have together. There really is no shortage to choose from, as Evans estimates that her bestie is in "about 90 percent of them" after all.

After posting this revelation on TikTok, the photos left users in hysterics as they lauded the unbreakable friendship that no man could come between—not even a groom. Since it was shared on November 20, the TikTok video has gone viral with over 5.8 million views and 728,900 likes so far.

"Emma finds it hilarious and said it perfectly sums up who we are as a duo," Evans told Newsweek. "Her favorite photo is the one where it looks like we're exchanging rings. She was just trying on my new ring, but TikTok viewers definitely ran with it. Thankfully, my husband sees the funny side."

She joked: "I'm a sapphic author, and it's pretty ironic that people online are suggesting I should marry a woman—it's very on brand for me."

With 3000 comments on the viral post, plenty of TikTok users hailed the adorable wedding photos of the happy couple (Evans and Savage that is).

One user wrote: "Congratulations to you and [your] wife."

Another user commented: "Aww but that's a beautiful friendship for sure."

While a third added: "I didn't even notice your husband the first time I watched! I thought she was who you married."
