Britney Spears has a lot to celebrate at the moment as her divorce from ex-husband Sam Asghari has been finalized, it has been claimed.
The Toxic singer, who is marking her 43rd birthday today, married the model, 30, in 2022, after around six years of dating.
Last year, the 30-year-old – who is set to appear on the upcoming series of the Traitors US – shocked everyone when he filed to end their marriage, just 14 months after they tied the knot.
According to reports, their split has been made official more than a year after he submitted the paperwork.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ reportedly state that their split became a ‘done deal’ today.
It is alleged that they signed a pre-nup before their wedding, leaving Sam with ‘virtually nothing’, while Britney paid for his rent for a few months.
Neither have spoken publicly about the reports.
The former couple first met in 2016, on the set of the mom-of-two’s music video for Slumber Party, and they soon began dating.
Sam was by Britney’s side during the majority of her conservatorship battle, and announced their engagement just days after the Baby One More Time musician was freed from the controversial court order, in 2021.
They said their vows the following summer in front of a celebrity-stacked guestlist – including Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez and Madonna.
This marked Britney’s third marriage, following romances with Jason Alexander and Kevin Federline – who she shares sons Jayden and Sean with.
Many were left stunned when the actor cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason behind their relationship ending last year, just months two months after they lovingly marked their first anniversary as a married couple.
Taking to Instagram, he issued a statement which read : ‘We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each and I wish her the best always.
‘S**t happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.’
Shortly after, Britney posted her own message on social media, sharing that she was ‘shocked’ by their split.
‘As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business!!!,’ she wrote at the time.
‘But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly!!! In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you!!!
‘I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that!!!
‘I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses!!!
‘If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors!!! But that’s when I needed family the most!!! You’re supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions!!!!
‘So I will be as strong as I can and do my best!!! And I’m actually doing pretty damn good!!! Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile!!!’
