Bruce Willis' wife Emma Heming Willis has shared a sweet throwback video of him playing with their daughter and it has gone viral with fans nostalgic about the star's presence in public life.

The Die Hard actor has been largely out of the public eye since his family announced in 2023 that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). But Heming Willis, who is mom to daughters Evelyn, 10, and Mabel, 12, with the star, gives little peeks at their family life and sometimes shares throwback images on social media.

The latest clip posted on Instagram shows the actor, 69, crossing a road with Evelyn on his shoulders. Filmed when she was younger, Evelyn giggles as her dad pretends to nibble her leg. It quickly went viral, amassing 49,499 likes just 22 hours after it was posted.

Fans labeled it "beautiful" but also said it was "heartbreaking" to see old footage of the Hollywood star.

Newsweek has emailed representatives for Heming Willis for comment.

"Beautiful memories … and to hear his voice, I think we all miss that as well too," one fan posted in the comments section. "This is beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time," said someone else.

Another fan wrote: "Memories can be comforting and painful at the same time. This is so hard to navigate." "This is so beautiful!!" exclaimed someone else.

Another fan said: "Brought a flood of emotions to see him full of life and energy. It reminded us of the joy and strength he brings to everyone around him." "So great, breaks my heart too," said somebody else.

One fan commented: "This is absolutely adorable." Another wrote: "Thanks for sharing this. Miss seeing him. Take care."

Willis was originally diagnosed with language disorder aphasia, but Heming Willis, the star's ex-wife Demi Moore and his daughters later shared a joint statement saying that he had been diagnosed with FTD.

They said on Instagram: "Since we announced Bruce's diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce's condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis."

Willis has three daughters with his ex-wife Moore—Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30.

The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration says that FTD is the most common form of dementia for people under age 60. "It represents a group of brain disorders caused by degeneration of the frontal and/or temporal lobes of the brain," the site said.
