After two biological kids, a handful of step ones, and two decades of marriage, Kris and Caitlyn Jenner have very different perspectives on why their marriage ended.
The world fell in love with outlandish characters like Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian after years of seeing them on hit shows like The Kardashians. Kris’ ex, Caitlyn Jenner, featured heavily on the show’s precursor, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Caitlyn and Kris Jenner were married for 22 years
Caitlyn and Kris Jenner married in 1991 just one month after the latter formalized her divorce from Robert Kardashian, the father of Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and Rob. Kendall Jenner was welcomed into the family four years later, followed by Kylie Jenner in 1997.
As we know, their relationship had a shelf life and the celebrity couple separated in 2013 as fans assumed it was largely down to Caitlyn stepping proudly into her identity as a transgender woman. Turns out that might not be the case, at least for Caitlyn.

“Twenty percent was gender and 80 percent was the way I was treated,” Caitlyn said in her legendary coming out story in Vanity Fair in 2015.
In the same interview, Kris unpacked her side of the story as she confessed that Caitlyn’s strategy for dealing with the situation was difficult.
“He was married to me and he wasn’t who he wanted to be so he was miserable…. All I was doing was working very hard for my family so that we could all have a wonderful future, and he was pissed off,” she said, adding that Caitlyn’s sudden decision was the “most passive-aggressive thing I think I’ve ever experienced.”
“Why would you want to be married and have kids if this is what you wanted since you were a little boy? Why would you not explain this all to me?” she questioned.
Caitlyn barely talks to the Kardashian side of the family
That interview had a devastating effect on Caitlyn Jenner’s relationship with her extended family, particularly the women we have all come to love on reality TV.
In a 2017 interview with Piers Morgan, two years after the Vanity Fair cover, the Olympian revealed she had a strained relationship with her step-kids.
“I don’t talk about that side of the family, I spent 23 years of my life with those kids – it’s difficult to talk about it, terribly terribly sad,” she said. “I’ve lost all relationships with them, yes, I don’t talk to any of them anymore.”
Though her relationship was fine with Kendall and Kylie, Caitlyn added: “[I haven’t talked to] Kris [in] probably a year, Kim probably nine months, Khloe two years, but she wasn’t there, and Kourtney I haven’t talked to her either.”
Some time has passed, but we have yet to see a Kardashian Jenner reunion we were hoping for. Presumably, Caitlyn’s relationship with her family is still on the rocks.
