Capital FM presenter Jordan North appears to have made a dig at his former workplace, BBC Radio 1 after his ice cold departure from the station earlier this year.

Back in February, it was announced that Jordan, 34, would take over from Roman Kemp as the host of Capital Breakfast Show. At the time, Roman, 31, announced he was stepping down after 10 years with the station.

As well as previously presenting drive for Radio 1, Jordan co-hosts hit podcast Help I Sexted My Boss!, had a hugely successful stint on I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

When it was announced Jordan was joining the Capital FM family, he said: "I am beyond excited to be joining Global and to wake up the nation every morning on Capital - I can't wait to start working with the amazing team here and get stuck in, to create the most fun and entertaining breakfast show.

"Getting to host Capital Breakfast has always been a dream of mine and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that I simply couldn’t turn down.”

While Jordan's departure from Radio 1 came as a shock to listeners - it came as an even bigger one to him. The presenter was “blindsided” by news of his departure, which was issued without his knowledge in chaotic scenes.

Jordan was announced as the new host of Capital radio’s breakfast show, taking over from Roman. By the time his departure was announced he had already presented his last episode of the BBC drive time show, alongside co-host Vick Hope, albeit unaware.

At the time, a source said there were tensions running high for a few months surrounding Jordan’s departure after he let producers know he wanted to go.

The source said: “Conversations were going back and forth between Jordan’s people and the top people at the BBC for months, and over time they deteriorated. Once he formally requested to leave, that was it – he was off air, immediately. It’s a shame it ended on such a bad note after 10 years."

Almost one year after his departure from Radio 1, Jordan has now thrown shade at his ex-colleagues. After joining Capital Breakfast from Radio 1, Jordan has seen the show become bigger and more successful than ever.

Since joining the show in February, an extra 400,000 people are tuning in to listen to the star present alongside co- hosts Sian Welby and Chris Stark. The trio have taken the show's audience to 2.96million in just a matter of months.

Throwing shade at his former workplace while celebrating his Capital co-stars, Jordan told The Sun: "I won't lie, it's quite sweet that we're beating Radio 1 in younger audiences."

The star is also over the moon to be hosting Capital's Jingle Bell Ball this weekend where stars including Coldplay and Katy Perry will perform.
