The Bronx rapper spoke during VP Kamala Harris' Milwaukee President rally.
Cardi B took to social media to clap back at Elon Musk, who had some choice words about her speech at Kamala Harris‘ recent Milwaukee rally on Nov. 1.
Following the Grammy-winning rapper’s heartfelt spill at the Democratic event, Musk called Cardi a “puppet” and claimed she was being “fed words” during her speech. Captioning her speech, Musk wrote on X: “Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words. The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy.”
In a swift rebuttal, Cardi fired back on the app challenging Musk’s understanding of the struggles everyday Americans face. “I’m not a puppet, Elon,” she declared. “I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their a** off to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of Section 8, I’m a product of poverty, and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you.”
She added, “But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle.” And in true Cardi fashion, she ended her post with a cheeky “PS fix my algorithm,” keeping her fans entertained as she put the billionaire in his place.
At the rally, the “Up” rapper gave a 10-minute speech sharing her powerful testament in support for Harris, while also critiquing Trump’s policies. “I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life,” she read from her phone ahead of her teleprompter malfunctioning. “I take seriously the call to show up, to speak out, and to share a message that’s been on my heart for a while now.”
Connecting with the audience on a personal level, she continued, “Like Kamala Harris, I’ve been the underdog, underestimated, and had my success belittled. Women have to work 10 times harder and still face questions about how we achieved success. I can’t stand a bully, but just like Kamala, I always stand up to one.”
Cardi also revealed that Harris changed her mind about voting. “I didn’t have faith in any candidates until she joined and spoke the words I wanted to hear about the future of this country,” she admitted. “I believe every word she says. She’s passionate, compassionate, empathetic, and most importantly, she’s realistic.”
The 31-year-old didn’t hold back when it came to her thoughts on Trump either, labeling him a “hustler” and criticizing his approach to women’s rights and the economy.
“Hustling women out of their rights is disgraceful. Hustling Americans out of their hard-earned money by selling Trump watches, Trump sneakers, Trump Bibles… do we really trust this man with our economy?” she questioned. “A man who only cares about getting rich and cutting taxes for his billionaire friends. I don’t even get a tax cut.”
After the rally, Cardi kept the momentum going on X, writing, “Donald Trump talks about having plans, but the only plan he has is to hustle YOU.”
With her fierce political advocacy and unapologetic opinions, Cardi once again proved that she is just as good with her rap lyrics as she is with voicing her opinions on things that matter.
