Caroline Flack's mum 'devastated' by Lewis Barton's romance with late star's best friend

Caroline Flack's mother doesn't accept Met Police's apology

A friend of late Love Island presenter Caroline Flack has claimed her mother Christine is "devastated" by the romance between her daughter's former boyfriend Lewis Burton and Lottie Tomlinson.

Lottie, 26, was reportedly best friends with Caroline before she died by suicide in 2020. Her death came as the star was preparing to stand trial for alleged assault dating back to September 2019.

Lottie and Lewis found love months after the star's tragic death and soon went public with their relationship, which Caroline's mum is said to have struggled with. The couple already share a son, Lucky, who was born in August 2022.

They are curently expecting their second baby, a baby girl, who is expected to arrive later this month. Sharing his excitement about becoming a father again, he shared a family snap over Christmas which he captioned: "Our last one as 3."

Now, a c=friend of Caroline's has claimed their happiness "must be devastating for Christine" in a interview with Mail Online.

They told the publication: "She has lost her daughter and now Lewis has become some kind of influencer with his girlfriend, living in apparent bliss and about to become a father for the second time.

"He has been able to move on with his life and find happiness, Caroline hasn't and it is heartbreaking. Nobody expected Lewis to never find love again, of course he was entitled to, but it was all very quick."

Meanwhile, another friend claimed the relationship has also caused conflict between Christine and other members of Caroline's friend circle.

They claimed she is "no longer close" with her Caroline's close pal Louise Teasdale, alleging that Louise "not ditching Lewis" is thought to be a "contributing factor" to their fractured connection.

The speculation comes after it was announced Christine is invovled in a new Disney+ documentary about her daughter. The film will look into what happened to the TV presenter in her final months and explore the many "unanswered questions" surrounding the star's death.

Speaking about the documentary, Christine said: "I still have so many questions about what happened to Caroline in her final months, and it's something I feel deeply compelled to explore, even though I know it will be challenging.

"I'm pleased to be working with the team at Curious Films once again, in the hope of bringing clarity and understanding to Carrie’s story – not just for her, but for everyone who cared about her."
