A video of an owner testing how her cat would react if something happened to her quickly went viral and left social media viewers laughing.
Cats often get a bad rap for being independent and aloof. Some believe they couldn't care less about their owners, which is why TikTok user @alofgarden decided to put that to the test with her orange cat.
The owner placed the camera on the ground and stepped back to the open space in the living room in the December 20 clip, which has amassed nearly 7 million views. She perfectly timed it: As her cat walked past, she pretended to faint and fell to the ground.
As soon as she hit the ground, the cat froze and whipped his head around to see what had happened. But when he saw it was his owner on the ground, he kept walking past the camera. He couldn't have cared less.
His reaction made his owner realize she was nothing more than a human roommate in his kingdom. But, as the caption reads, the cat's reaction came as "no surprises" to her.
Like the owner, TikTok viewers were not the least bit shocked by the cat continuing about his day. He showed the stereotypical cat behavior of marching to the beat of his own drum.
"He almost cared, almost," wrote one user, while a second said: "Be grateful the cat wasted an actual second to look before walking away."
Another pointed out: "Bro only flinched to make sure his own safety wasn't in jeopardy."
Others commented on what the cat was likely thinking: "She better get up before mealtime" and "She'll be fine."

Do Cats Really Love Their Owners?
Many people view cats as pets that care for their owners only when they want food or to go outside. But felines do have a soft side. It just may not be all snuggles and kisses, as owners see with dogs.
Cats show their love by slowly blinking, purring and kneading. They will also follow their humans around from room to room. These signs indicate they trust you and feel comfortable.
Newsweek previously reported that a study found cats show the same attachment to their owners as babies show to their parents. Kittens especially responded like children reacting to their parents—distressed when their caregivers left but happy and secure when they returned.
