A cat owner caught her feline keeping herself warm in a very relatable way, and internet users can't stop laughing at it.
In a viral TikTok video shared in November under the username @heyguysitsnicol_, the tuxedo cat can be seen lying down on the carpet like a loaf, positioned right in front of her owner's electric heater, soaking up all the warmth.
"The loaf is toasting. Estimated time: 4 minutes," says the caption.
Cats are usually good at keeping themselves warm, though sometimes they can get cold too. But how do you know? And what can you do to help them?
Cats have an average body temperature of around 100-102 degrees Fahrenheit, a little higher than ours, which is approximately 98.6 Fahrenheit. Their fur helps keep them warm, and they also tend to choose the warmest spots in the house to hang out.
However, in certain situations, like if the temperature is too low, or if the cat doesn't have fur, they may still feel cold.
Signs that your cat is cold include being cold to the touch, hanging out near the radiator, lying down curled up in a ball, being lethargic, and demanding cuddles more than they usually do.
A Catster article medically reviewed by Dr. Lorna Whittemore says that there are several ways to help a cold cat. Buying them a thermal cat bed or a sweater is a great idea to help them through the winter.
Placing their bed near a heat source, like a radiator or a fireplace, can also help keeping them warm and happy. However, remember to always place it at a reasonable distance, to avoid fire accidents.
Cuddling your feline is another way to warm them up while spending time together, and it's also a great way to strengthen your bond.
The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 3.1 million views and 680,600 likes on the platform.
One user, _dan_thefkn__man, commented: "Y'all the way cats have adapted to human lifestyle is scary."
Matt said: "My last cat would sit so close to the fireplace that she would singe or whiskers, she refused to sit farther away."
Gemini added: "So it's not just my cat who has an obsession with the heater."
