A cat named Lulu, from Ohio, was caught on camera performing impressive acrobatics while trying to escape her little brother in a video that has left internet users in stitches.
The viral TikTok clip, shared in December by @iamkaleigh_, shows Lulu trying to spend some time by herself when her kitten brother, Mouse, gets in the way, demanding attention as he does all day.
However, tired of little Mouse following her around, Lulu takes extreme measures to get away from him. As the kitten stands in her way, Lulu jumps over him, with a smooth move that got users in the comments comparing her to a bunny.
"Poor mouse just wants to cuddle lmao," reads the caption.
While some cats do enjoy the company of other felines in the house, especially those who were raised with their siblings, others are perfectly fine on their own, and may even dislike other cats.
There are several reasons why cats may not get along with other felines, including territorial behavior, past trauma associated with other cats, resource competition, personality difference, and a lack of proper socialization.
Socializing adult cats is a process that takes lots of patience and understanding, and it can be quite challenging. It all starts with building trust and creating a comfortable environment, which is essential for cats.
An article by Catster, medically reviewed by Dr. Marta Vidal-Abarca, said pets should be introduced slowly, by allowing the pets to sniff each other's bedding and toys, and their interactions should be short and closely monitored.
If you have a multiple cat household and they are constantly fighting, they may be competing over available resources. In this case, Georgia-based veterinarian Jess Kirk says in a Vet Explains Pets article that you can address the issue by making sure that there's plenty of resources in the house for them.
Moreover, if only one of your cats is bullying the other, you should try to address the underlying issue causing this behavior, which could be stress or anxiety, among other things, and provide a safe and comfortable space for all cats in the household.
The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 760,600 views and 168,800 likes on the platform.
One user, Ma8tt, commented: "What in the Matrix just happened."
TS Wooten said: "About as dramatic as expected."
Taylor added: "My cat jumps like that also like a little bunny."
Djdangercat wrote: "This is what it feels like having a younger sibling!!!"
