A cat who had only ever lived outside got to experience a bed for the first time, and the footage has melted viewers' hearts online.

The adorable video was shared by TikTok user @cass.doodles showing the black and white cat, named Winnie, finally feeling the comfort of a bed. In the clip, Winnie can be seen stretching out, rolling onto her back, and even making biscuits. Since it was posted on February 12, it has gone viral with more than 325,000 views and over 105,000 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.

The caption layered over the sweet footage says that it was her "first time sleeping in the bed after living outside her whole life." Needless to say, Winnie certainly appeared to be making the most of the experience.

As an outdoor cat, Winnie usually spends her time exploring the neighborhood and finds her own places to sleep at night. However, her owner is trying to transform her into an indoor cat by showing her just how cozy and warm a bed can be.

There are many perks that come with helping an outdoor cat transition into an indoor-only pet. The Animal Humane Society says that a cat reared indoors can live up to 20 years, compared to their outdoor compatriots who usually live to around 3 or 4 years old. There are many vulnerabilities that come with living outside, and they can also be a nuisance for neighbors.

When it comes to helping cats acclimate to the indoors, the Animal Humane Society recommends providing them with a sanctuary room. It should be a clean, quiet space that has litter boxes, bedding, food, and water, as well as a suitable hiding place for the cat. Once they are consistently eating, drinking, and showing interest in coming out, then the cat can be given more freedom around the house.

Owners should remember to secure all windows and doors and provide vertical climbing spaces so the cat can still explore. If they are having to share limited space, the feline can become stressed and anxious. So, perches and catwalks can provide the perfect antidote.

An outdoor cat will be accustomed to roaming, hunting and getting plenty of exercise, so it is important for owners to give them lots of mental stimulation in the house, too. Through interactive play and food-dispensing toys, owners can help felines feel fulfilled while growing accustomed to the great indoors.

Ever since Winnie's first foray into her owner's bedroom went viral, the video has amassed over 215 comments on TikTok. Internet users hailed her adorable behavior, and many were delighted by how much she is enjoying the simple home comforts.

One viewer posted: "Can you imagine feeling a soft cozy warm bed for THE FIRST TIME."

Another TikTok user wrote: "Cats are so precious, they deserve the world."

"I'm about to cry, she's so happy to be cozy and warm," responded a third commenter.

A fourth added: "That must be the best sleep of her life."
