Teri Garr died on October 29, 2024, after a decades-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. The late actress was known for her comical on-screen roles and advocacy for those living with MS. After working alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest names in Tootsie, Young Frankenstein and more projects, many of Teri’s former co-stars reacted to her death and shared tributes in her memory.

Michael Keaton
Teri’s Mr. Mom co-star, Michael Keaton, paid tribute to her by sharing a heartfelt Instagram post. He included an image of their film’s poster and wrote, “This is a day i feared and knew was coming. Forget about how great she was as an actress and comedienne. she was a wonderful woman. not just great to work with but great to be around. AND go back and watch her comedic work-Man, was she great!! RIP girl [sic].”
Lisa Kudrow
Friends fans recall Teri’s role as Phoebe Buffay’s mother. Actress Lisa Kudrow reacted to her death in a statement obtained by Entertainment Weekly, which read, “Teri Garr was a comedic acting genius who was and is a huge influence on me and I know I’m not alone in that. I feel so lucky and grateful I go to work with Teri Garr.”

David Letterman shared a past video to his Instagram of him interviewing Teri on Late Night with David Letterman.
“Teri Garr’s many appearances on Late Night gave it a cachet and importance not possible without her,” the TV host wrote. “She was a first-class actor and comedian, and a lovely human being. A bright star and a real friend to the show. I was lucky to know her. She elevated all, and I’m sad she is gone.”

In a statement to the New York Post, Dustin Hoffman remembered his late Tootsie co-star, saying, “Teri was brilliant and singular in all she did, and had a heart of gold. Working with her was one of the great highs. There was no one like her.”
